    top of the range synology NAS... ram memory a little limited

    it's Synology: very good ergonomics.
    easy to install disks and cache SSDs
    DSM 7, the NAS OS is very stable and mature.
    I use the NAS moderately intensively at times and the 4GB of RAM is limited! with VMs I'm not sure how well it works.
    and to have more than 1Gb on the network you need an optional card! good but expensive

    Still the best SINs

    I bought this Synology DS923+ to replace my DS416Play (which still works fine, but its advanced age has prompted me to look for a replacement...)

    Same DSM version, no surprises... I put back the same packages/applications and transferred everything without any problem.
    I have a personal/semi-pro use: CIFS shares mainly, but also Office 365 backup (Active backup for 365), OneDrive sync (CloudSync), and data backup of several PCs (Synology Drive).

    The performance is much better than my DS416 - which is logical, since there is a big difference in generation, CPU, and especially RAM. It is therefore more reactive (initial opening of a share for example) and faster (transfer rate).

    I didn't put any options in it (no SSD, or additional RAM). 4 HDD Seagate IronWolf 4 Tb. ( 1 btrfs raid of 10.5Tb). I hope that these HDDs will be more robust than my old Western Digital Red 3Tb (WD30), of which 2 of the 4 had problems in the long run (defective sectors / alarming s.m.a.r.t...) and that I had to change twice.
