Not compatible with my Seagate 1TB ST1000DM03, so, do I bin the NAS or the HDD? It's still phenomenal that brands like this aren't more flexible in the choice/use of branded HDDs. Especially for the 1 HDD, so no RAID but only storage. I know, people will say, I should have checked first, fair enough, but then what about large backup drives, are we limited to USB??
Excellent NAS, simple interface with plenty of options for managing the device. It is very responsive and allows streaming good quality content with Plex without any issues.
My order was well packaged.
The Synology DS124 NAS is perfect for my needs, used mainly for my music library.
With the 2TB drive, I also still have space to store a backup of my PC via Rsync.
Overall it is very quiet and doesn’t take up space. Installing the drive and starting up the DS124 is very simple and goes smoothly. Programming the power management is child’s play.
The plus: there are many possibilities for expansion with Synology’s DSM system, which is fairly open.
In short, I didn’t make a wrong choice.
Excellent product, easy to install. Delivered on time.
Works perfectly with excellent performance.
Configuration is easy, and the management interface (DSM) is really well designed.
It's intuitive yet allows advanced configuration of the many services and options available on the NAS.
The NAS (with an SSD in my case) is very quiet.
I would have appreciated a slightly more compact version (there's a lot of space), but I suppose the limit is the size of the fan at the back.
I'd recommend it.
