Synology or nothing
Thank you LDC, it was not in stock but still delivered quickly.
I switched from a Synology DS1812+ to this one without any problem.
It recovered all my disks and my SHR raid configuration with all the data (around 40TB).
All the Surveillance Station configuration with the cameras is back.
I had to redo my PLEX configuration, which works much better, especially from the outside with the 10GBits which is on a 10GBits switch which is itself on the 10Gbits port of the Freebox.
My criteria were SHR raid, DLNA, PLEX, 10Gbits, and at least 8 discs.
The DS1823xs+ isn't much cheaper and doesn't support the SHR raid, which allows you to have disks of different sizes, so migrating from my DS1812+ wouldn't have been possible. And the DS1821+ is still an older generation.
I added a recognised 10Gbit fibre optic card with no problem.
On the downside:
- It's quite noisy even in silent mode, but at home it's in a bay in the basement so it's not a nuisance.
- for the price, the rails could be supplied, I had universal rails but still.
- all my disks (WD, Seagate...), are found in error "not verified" because not of the mark Synology, this error does not prevent the operation and does not deteriorate anything, I find that a little a swindle to pay the same disk more expensive, but one finds the means of making disappear this error (but shut... ;).... ).
I have no regrets about my purchase and hope that it will last as long or even longer than the old one.
