Excellent homeserver + pro applications
I needed an energy-efficient server with greater reliability to manage both very long-term storage, a mediaserver for the home (high quality 4K), certain professional applications including storage, analysis of data from a dozen or so sources in real time (financial markets) and validation of the blocks of a blockchain which require complex raid storage at hard disk level in order to obtain suitable performance.
I've replaced my previous energy-hungry and somewhat 'rusty' server with this one, and I'm really amazed at how few resources my current scripts require: the machine's capacity far exceeds my old server for 1/3 of the energy consumed (thanks in particular to the absence of mechanics for the SSDs). The speed is of course incredible (with the right SSDs) and it's possible to perform all tasks in parallel without any loss of speed.
I'm also discovering new features with the app store, such as intelligent photo management and private game servers.
The perfect next-generation solution for home storage/professional applications at a price that's simply unbelievable for the performance.
