Bought to replace my DS213, a bit tired after nearly 10 years of good and loyal service without any issues. Installation couldn't be simpler and the setup interface is user-friendly as long as you stick to 'amateur' use. Taking over the settings from the old NAS is automatic and really makes the job easier. I don't know any other brand but the SYNOLOGY NAS works really well!
Installing the hard drives in the product is very simple. It's also easy to access the interface via a browser. Getting to grips with the various applications and the menu in general takes a little time for the novice but does not require any particular technical skills. The TV (LG G2) immediately recognised the server.
Be patient, though, as files need to be archived so that they can be viewed externally, and if you have old video files, the synology player (or some TVs like mine) may not play them, so you need to convert these files, for example to mp4.
it's the cheapest synology DS and it suits me.
I was able to recover my data from my completely rubbish DS418 NAS.
the other models are too expensive
