I was looking for a NAS to store personal files, movies but also to make an NFS disk for virtualization.
This one is perfect. I have 4 disks of 2TO in raid 5, which allows me to have a read/write speed of 200Mb/Sec.
On the functionality side, I have a VPN access, an NFS server, a file server and a media center. I get the status of the synology server with SNMP.
The NAS is easily manageable and really powerful!
My third Synology NAS.
No need to boast about the possibilities of the DSM OS.
Note that this NAS accepts 16TB HDDs, which allows you to have 96TB with the extension, all in house mirroring. This is a great feature for 4K video collectors.
My other Synology NAS have been running 24 hours a day for the past 5 years without the slightest problem, with just a yearly blast of compressed air.
