Overview

RackStation RS1221+: Compact and Reliable

With a depth of only 30 centimeters, the Synology RS1221+ is designed for compact deployments. With over 100K/4K random read IOPS and 2,315MB/s sequential read IOPS, the RS1221+ is ready to handle large workloads in data-intensive environments. ECC memory and the Btrfs file system provide greater reliability and snapshot capabilities that help prevent data corruption and simplify data protection.

Compact design for a small footprint

The RS1221+ and its RX418 expansion unit are designed to save space in compact deployments. At just 30 cm (12 inches), half the length of a typical 2U unit, it fits perfectly into 2-post or shallow rack-mount enclosures. The dual-powered RS1221RP+ is only 38 cm long and also fits most shallow enclosures.2

  • Fits shallow rack mount enclosures
  • Easy to install in 2-post racks

Hyper Backup

A complete backup and recovery solution for optimal data protection. Create backup destinations locally, on another Synology device, rsync servers, or cloud-based destinations such as Google Drive, Dropbox, S3 compatible destinations, and Synology C2 Storage, a dedicated backup destination for Synology devices. Deduplication, integrity checks, and incremental transfer technology reduce bandwidth and storage usage.

Protect Your Entire Office

Active Backup Suite allows administrators to easily secure their entire IT infrastructure by backing up mission-critical data on their NAS, including Windows and Linux workstations and servers, file servers, VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, and Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace accounts. Benefit from deduplication, multiversion management for quick rollback, and additional data efficiency optimizations to reduce bandwidth and storage usage.

certified storage virtualization

Synology iSCSI storage fully supports popular virtualization solutions to improve work efficiency with a simple management interface. The integration of VMware vSphere 6 and VAAI offloads storage operations. Windows Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX) accelerates data transfer. OpenStack Cinder supports your Synology NAS in a block-based storage component. In addition, Synology Storage Console provides even easier storage provisioning and management options in VMware and Windows environments.

    Rack-mounted Syno

Home use; this is my 3rd synology. I have no complaints about DSM and their services in general. Easy to install and manage.format: in a rack, it's better, especially as it fits in a small bay; as I have a patch bay (600 prof) it fits perfectly with switches and patching.power: as I gain in power and volume compared to the other synos, I obviously have nothing to say. I've got 4 x 4TB IronWolf, so there's still some potential for SSD cache and volume expansion.

    a dboite

I'm not sure if it's a 1821, but it's not as good at first glance:- we're limited to 12 disks as opposed to 18- we don't have the two NVME slots- it's noisier (a pair of noctua A8 PWMs solve the problem)but but but but but, it's better built (100% metal, including disk supports) and it's really tip top to put in a shallow rack (no room to put a tagre and put a nas desktop... and the rack format is sexy, ok!? I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use a ryzen v1500b cpu or a ryzen v1500b cpu, but I'm sure it's a good idea to use a ryzen v1500b cpu, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a ryzen v1500b cpu. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use a different drive, but I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use a different drive, and I'm sure it's a good idea to use one.
