Greater efficiency with SSD caching and 10GbE connectivity

The TVS-473e supports the innovative PCIe QM2 card that allows you to add up to two M.2 SSDs. You can configure the SSD cache, or create a RAID 5 tiered storage with the two M.2 SSDs in the NAS. Since these M.2 SSDs won't take up 3.5-inch drive bays, the card allows you to maximize your storage capacity and performance. In addition, there are QM2 cards that include 10GbE 10GBASE-T connectivity to provide the SSD cache with high-speed network connectivity on a single card.

SSD cache with Qtier optimization for 24-hour acceleration

The TVS-473e includes the SSD cache, and also supports optional M.2 SATA 6Gb/s SSDs. Using the SSD cache boosts overall system performance. Perfect for overall workflow improvement of random IOPS demanding applications, e.g. virtualization. QNAP's Qtier technology enables the TVS-473e to perform automatic tiering that will help you optimize storage efficiency between your various M.2 SSDs, 2.5-inch SSDs, and high-capacity SATA drives with 24-hour acceleration. The new Qtier 2.0 includes I/O recognition that prioritizes SSD storage with reserved space as a cache to handle real-time burst I/O, greatly maximizing the benefits of SSDs.

Easy installation and direct file access with USB QuickAccess

With its innovative USB QuickAccess port, the TVS-473e eliminates the hassle of first-time NAS setup, and provides direct access to files stored on the TVS-473e - without the need for network connectivity. Simply use a compatible cable to connect the TVS-473e to a PC or Mac device, then use Qfinder Pro to set it up. It's that easy. In addition, you can assign user access rights for different folders to prevent unauthorized access to important files.

Superior 4K video transcoding and two 4K HDMI outputs

The TVS-473e runs on a 3rd generation AMD GCN architecture offering state-of-the-art graphics performance that supports 4K H.264 video decoding and impressive 4K UHD resolution display. It delivers superior 4K and 1080p video transcoding in real time. You can convert your videos into universal formats that can be played back on PCs, mobile devices and Smart TVs without jerks. The TVS-473e offers two HDMI outputs that support "duplicate" or "extended" desktop configurations. You can connect the NAS to an HDTV or A/V receiver and use the media player in HybridDesk Station (HD Station) with the QNAP remote control (sold separately) or the Qremote mobile app to enjoy rich multimedia content and 4K video at 30Hz with the best AV experience.

Block-based iSCSI LUN: The Ideal Choice for Virtualization Storage

The TVS-473e supports block-based iSCSI LUNs, and supports VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Windows Server 2012 R2, providing a high-performance, reliable, and affordable storage solution for virtualization environments. The TVS-473e also supports VMware VAAI and Microsoft ODX to increase performance by offloading ESXi and Hyper-V server respectively. The QNAP vSphere Client plug-in and QNAP SMI-S provider are also supported, so you benefit from improved operational and management efficiency in virtualized environments. In addition, the use of iSCSI extensions for RDMA (iSER) protocol with a 10GbE compatible NIC helps boost the data transfer performance of the TVS-473e as VMware ESXi storage, which provides an excellent tool for optimizing demanding virtualization applications.

All-in-one server for hosting virtual machines and containers

Virtualization Station and Container Station together introduce a hybrid approach to virtualization. No matter what your virtualization needs are, you can rely on QNAP for full virtualization support.

Virtualization Station allows you to run multiple Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Android virtual machines and access them through a web browser or VNC (Virtual Network Computing). Businesses can run virtualized server applications on a single NAS without requiring additional physical servers.
Container Station integrates the lightweight virtualization technologies of LXC and Docker. You can download the applications from the built-in Docker Hub Registry. It supports container import/export and authorization settings. It is a simple, portable and efficient deployment.

QTS - Smart, intuitive and creative operating system for NAS

With its multiple applications and modularized features, QTS improves management efficiency, personal productivity, multimedia experience, and more, making your NAS experience easier, more efficient, and more flexible! The new Qboost features a NAS optimization tool that helps speed up applications, free up system resources, and schedule applications. The built-in App Center with hundreds of on-demand installable apps also greatly enhances the NAS functionality. QTS breaks down barriers between devices, platforms, and geographies to give you an optimized cloud experience. In addition, it includes advanced features.

Enhanced collaboration with easy file sharing and synchronization

The TVS-473e centrally stores data and individual files, and supports SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS protocols for file sharing over Windows, Mac, Linux/UNIXnetworks. Combined with Qsync - a utility that turns a QNAP NAS into a secure, high-capacity data centre for file synchronisation - any file uploaded to the TVS-473e will be made available to all related devices, such as desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. You can synchronise shared folders and team folders for group file sharing, which greatly improves the flexibility of team projects and collaborative work. Files can be managed centrally using File Station, including files from mobile devices and optical disk drives. In addition, File Station allows you to mount a remote NAS, and transfer files between your NAS and public cloud services for added convenience.

Extended Backup Solutions for Comprehensive Disaster Recovery Planning

QNAP offers reliable and flexible backup and disaster recovery solutions to help businesses and organizations perform daily data backup tasks for computers, VM, and other devices in a highly efficient manner.

Fast data scanning, archiving and retrieval to increase your productivity

The TVS-473e is a highly efficient data storage centre with a variety of productivity applications. OCR Converter extracts text from images, making it easy to organise, edit and search files. Qfiling automates the organisation of files: simply determine the archiving conditions, set a schedule and the files will be organised and archived according to your settings. The Qsirch full-text search tool includes a quick file search and offers a Qsirch Helper extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox to search for files on your NAS when using Google Search. This offers huge productivity boosts that greatly reduce the time spent searching for files on the NAS.

    QNAP 473E balance sheet

I'm very pleased with the quality of this product. I've had it delivered to my LDLC shop in three days!
The nas 473E-8 G is of very good quality, true to the QNAP brand. (I use this brand in professional environment)
I've been using it for a while now and I'm not sure if it's a good one or not, but I'm sure it's a good one.
However, there is a small problem with the network transfer speed.
After analysis, the auto-negotiation did not work properly following the firmware update, I had to force the port to 100 mbits on the active to be able to connect to the portal.
However, after opening a ticket, and transferring logs, the QNAP hotline was very responsive to solve the problem.
I have to say that this requires some knowledge, given the solutions provided by the QNAP technician.

    effective for a short life

I'm not going to give it a bad rap because it did its job very well ... until a few days ago when it shut itself off, impossible to get it to boot since.
2 and a half years of good and loyal service, but the "half" was unfortunately too much, no longer guaranteed. I am currently looking for a solution... (cost of repair by QNAP : 400$)
