This PCI-E controller card with 2 SATA3 ports comes to our rescue because on most motherboards sold today there is a lack of SATA ports or none at all. Apparently, manufacturers consider SATA ports to be useless since mini-PCIe slots for M2 SSDs replace them and that we can do without multi-format drives since the "cloud" exists to store memories, music and everything else we own. It turns out that internal SATA3 ports are needed most of the time.

After 2 weeks of use (I plugged my old Blue Ray burner into an internal port) I had problems with Windows.
When I connected, the loader would run and then freeze. Impossible to access Windows. I also had problems reinstalling Windows, the repair discs couldn't cope.
When I removed the card: no more problems.
I put the card back in & unplugged the BR burner: no more problems.
I updated the drivers and plugged in the BR: no more problems.
Well then I removed some useless HD and plugged the BR into my motherboard...

Otherwise on the external ports to copy data, no problem. Fast and efficient. With an SSD, it runs like the wind.
Be careful if you have a 5''1/4 platter drive, you have to power it with 12V. I was able to get by with an old HD to USB adapter that used a molex male plug. But there are memory card readers + expansion ports that offer molex plugs on the front.
I confirm that the ports are managed in pairs on the card. That means 1 esata with 1 sata. So you can't activate both ports of the same pair.
Possible configurations: 2 sata or 2 esata or 1sata+1esata (of different pairs) you switch with the jumpers.

For those who are interested, when you plug in a 5 bay Lian-li ex503 box, the 5 disks are seen separately in Windows.
I was not able to test if it was possible to connect two ex503 at the same time at full capacity.
I thought the card allowed 2 external _and_ internal SATA connectors, but in fact you have to choose with jumpers if you want the internal _or_ external connector to be used.
It's a good idea to use the external connector. It works well under linux.
So, 9/10 because I didn't understand that I wouldn't have 4 ports.
So, the card allows you to connect 2 SATA or 2 eSATA or one of each.
It's a bit naive on my part, one of the previous reviews that talks about jumpers should have aroused my curiosity...
I'm not sure if it's a good product or not, but it's a great product.
Good product, easy to use, well packaged and delivered within 10 days.
Not much to complain about. Functional.
Used on a linux (ubuntu 18.10, on an old core i7), I was anticipating having to type in the kernel boot settings to get it to work (prior web search).

It works fine without changing anything in the distribution.
At the other end of the cable, an Icy Dock whose two disks (on 4 slots) are very well seen (better than with usb, since I can now get the temperature of the disks).
Simple, clean, easy to set up.
I'm very happy with the way it's delivered, no worries, packaging and delivery time as usual.
Used in a tower for 2 optical drives on the 2 internal SATA ports.
Don't forget to change the jumper position (inaccessible once the card is mounted...) to enable the internal ports because the card is configured for external ports.
The only downside is that I think the protective covers for the external ports are missing when they are not used.
I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not.
