Designed by StarTech. com, this 4-port SATA III (6 Gbps) controller card with RAID allows you to add two SATA 6 Gbps hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid state drives (SSDs) to your computer system or server via an available PCIe x2 card slot, and build the drives into a hardware RAID array. The card supports both SATA III and PCI-Express 2.0 specifications, and can also be used to add optical disk drives (ODDs) such as CD/DVD/Blu-ray to your computer.

This RAID controller card supports different hardware RAID configurations to suit your specific application:

• RAID 0 (striped) - Spreads your data evenly across the drives to increase read/write performance, while increasing the size of your storage capacity by volume.
• RAID 1 (mirroring) - Copies your data exactly to the drives to provide data redundancy, so your data will be safely backed up if one of the drives fails.
• SPAN (big) - Combines the drives into a single array to increase the size of your volume storage capacity to the combined total of the two drives.
• JBOD (Just a bunch of disks) - Exposes the drives as individual devices to be processed independently.
• ASM1062 to deliver SATA 6 Gbps performance
• Equipped with the ASM1062 controller, this SATA card allows the connection of multiple high-performance SATA 6 Gbps drives with a combined total throughput of up to 8 Gbps. The SATA drives are connected via 4 individual SATA ports located on the card (SATA cables are sold separately).

The controller card is widely supported on all popular operating system platforms, including Windows (7, 8, 10, 11), macOS (10.10 and above) and Linux (2.6.32 and above). In addition, with support for PCIe 2.0 and SATA III specifications, this card provides backward compatibility with previous generations (SATA I/II, PCIe 1) at lower performance. For management and configuration of RAID functionality, the card supports OS boot on Windows and Linux for BIOS-level RAID configuration, and includes a Windows application for OS-level RAID configuration, setup and monitoring. On macOS, only software RAID is supported using RAID Assistant. The SATA controller card is plug-and-play and can be installed in a full or low profile computer system, with the full profile bracket pre-installed and an interchangeable low profile (half height) bracket included.
