Featuring two controllers, a front-panel OLED display, and a shallow rack-mount design, the QNAP TL-R1620Sdc 3UThe QNAP TL-R1620Sdc 3U expansion box with 16 12Gbps SAS bays is ideal for expanding the storage capacity of Windows servers. Both controllers feature three HD Mini SAS ports (SFF-8644), supporting 12 Gbps SAS and Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization technology. The two-way mini SAS design maintains continuous operation even if an external JBOD cable is disconnected. Up to 7 TL-R1620Sdc units can be daisy-chained via high-speed HD mini SAS cables, providing scalability and high reliability for business-critical storage for file servers, virtualisation, surveillance, mid-sized data centres, multimedia content and more.
Dual Controller, Dual Channel Design
Connect the TL-R1620Sdc to a QNAP NAS or Windows server with two controllers and create a redundant cross-loop configuration that provides the expansion units with redundant paths to the base NAS and protection between JBOD connections. If one or more paths to the TL-R1620Sdc go offline, the other expansion units can still communicate with the base NAS. A critical feature for inter-machine data protection and capacity scalability for uninterrupted business critical tasks.
Highly efficient, reliable and scalable
The TL-R1620Sdc is powered by a 28nm SAS35x28R low-power SAS expander and supports 12/6 Gbps SAS/SATA drives. Both controllers have three Mini SAS HD ports (SFF-8644) and each SAS wide port combines four 12 Gbps SAS channels for up to 48 Gbps bandwidth.
SAS DataBolt technology
Featuring Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization technology, the TL-R1620Sdc has an intelligent buffer to transfer data to disks at speeds that match the host NAS performance. Regardless of whether the TL-R1620Sdc uses 12Gbps or 6Gbps disks, the host NAS will transfer data to the TL-R1620Sdc at 12Gbps, allowing you to enjoy high-speed 12Gbps SAS transmission with the existing 6Gbps infrastructure.
Storage Management
Simply connect a TL-R1620Sdc to a QNAP dual-controller NAS and power it on. The NAS will detect the drives in the TL-R1620Sdc as newly installed local drives. Using the Storage Manager app on the host NAS, you can configure and manage the storage space of the TL-R1620Sdc by defining RAID groups, storage pools, and snapshots. The TL-R1620Sdc can also be configured as a storage volume of the host NAS, which allows you to easily expand the NAS storage to accommodate large data or backup files.
