Quad-Core 1.5Ghz CPU and 4GB DDR4 RAM
The quality and power of components are essential for any computer hardware to function properly. The Nimbustor 4 NAS is no exception. The Nimbustor 4 uses the Intel Gemini Lake Celeron J4105 Quad Core CPU which is 30% faster than the Apollo Lake CPUs. The Celeron J4105 also doubles the on-chip cache to 4MB, making the Nimbustor 4 one of the fastest NAS units ever designed. The Nimbustor 4 comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM expandable to 8GB. DDR4 RAM offers up to 30% better performance than DDR3, while reducing power requirements by 40%.
Gigabit Ethernet 2.5 GbE
Ultra-fast network connection and bandwidth aggregation are key features for a NAS server. Nimbustor 4 is equipped with two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Get up to 150% higher performance than Gigabit Ethernet with compatible hardware and up to 5 Gbps using link aggregation. ASUSTOR NAS devices can also record live streams in up to 4K HDR resolution and save them directly to the NAS, without affecting gaming performance. For gamers without large hard drive storage capacities, LAN parties, and Internet cafes, ADM offers iSCSI to store less demanding titles for simultaneous playback on multiple devices.
4K HDR experience
The Nimbustor features HDMI 2.0a with 10Kbit 4K hardware decoding and VP9 10bit Profile2 for a smoother experience and reduced CPU usage. Use Plex Pass or a third-party player to play 4K HDR video. ASUSTOR NAS devices are designed for 24/7 operation and have undergone rigorous drop and burn tests, while high-quality internal heat sinks efficiently dissipate heat from sensitive components to preserve longevity. ASUSTOR leads the way in quality and backs this up with the longest warranty in the industry - a three-year manufacturer's warranty.
Complete Backup Solution
ASUSTOR's full backup solution offers over twelve backup options including Amazon S3, Dropbox, Google Drive and Onedrive. ASUSTOR's Backup Plan for Windows and Time Machine for macOS offer easy backups for desktops and laptops, while MyArchive removable hard drives provide cold storage. The Btrfs format, now supported with Snapshot Center, allows you to create snapshots. In case of unintentional changes, easily restore previous versions with Snapshot Center.
Not all the features I expected but still some good points for all the existing ones!
Being an ardent Synology fan, I tried Asustor for a change and although not finding all the user friendliness of Synology, I am very impressed with the product.
Would deserve a video application identical to my Synology Nas to get a 10 without concession!

On top after a slow start
Lack of explanation at startup, and formatting of disks.
Once started it is a perfect and powerful server for HD movies in my case.

Perfectible.
The +'s
- LDLC RAS, fast as usual.
- Very easy installation via the AIMASTER software on IOS.
- Correct speed on CAT 6 cabling in 1000/100/10 about 110mb/s in writing.
70mb/s write + 70mb/s read simultaneously directly from the PC but the whole thing is limited by my 10/100/1000 Mbps network switch (Gigabyte AORUS z390 Xtreme motherboard on the 10gb/s port. I have to find 2,5 / 5 / 10 gb switches with more than 2 ports...and we are waiting for the internet boxes with 2,5 / 5 / 10 gb switch...
- The OS is complete and a lot of software is available.
- I easily installed an 8gb (2x4gb) DDR4 2400mhz kit
The -
- Very, too noisy! No damping pad on the HDDs because of the quick release system. The whole case starts to vibrate, it's infernal. especially the magnetic cover at the front that I had to remove. The design is really low cost in my opinion...
- Big disappointment, Kodi absent, not installable. Plex can't read them all! The other software of reading multimedia misses codec... In short, for me, a real catastrophe compared to my old ASUSTOR nas. I'm not able to use the HDMI 2.0 as it should be.
