Designed for NAS, the Toshiba N300 hard drive delivers unmatched reliability! In the demanding world of mass storage, the N300 delivers optimal performance and meets the endurance, performance and scalability needs of a high capacity 24/7 storage system for personal, home office or small business use.

Through discussions with NAS manufacturers, Toshiba recognised the need for high reliability drives that address today's data storage and retrieval requirements, including streaming, backup and archiving. The drive, which can support multiple multi-RAID systems with up to 8 hard drives, enables reliable storage and use of large volumes of data by multiple clients 24/7.
Conventional hard drives without RV sensors can degrade the performance of a multi-bay NAS system by generating harmful vibration. N300 drives ensure high reliability by reducing vibration through monitoring and sensor technology. Numerous sensors detect even the slightest shock, and the built-in RV sensors compensate for rotational vibration, thus limiting the risk of harmful vibration in the multi-bay NAS system configuration.

NAS systems in small business or creative environments must be accessible by multiple users from different locations simultaneously. Therefore, today's NAS drives guarantee high data transfer rates and simultaneous upload and download 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. By offering high reliability and scalability, the N300 guarantees a workload factor of up to 180 TB/year, which is up to 3 times more than conventional desktop hard drives.
The use of highly robust components is one of the reasons why the N300 series provides a higher durability than conventional hard drives. In addition, theautomatic adjustment of the seekspeed to reduce heat during any operation involving high temperatures further enhances the robustness of the device in demanding situations.

You can enjoy high performance and accelerated read speed when accessing data communicated by many users, thanks to a 128 MB data buffer. This makes the drive suitable for small businesses and content management professionals who require solutions for handling high volumes of data through multi-RAID NAS environments.

The power sata plug broke.
It's my fault, I pressed a bit at an angle, but it broke like a waffle.
I had to make a makeshift repair to get the drive to work.
I'm not one for tests of any kind. The two disks I bought were mounted in an Asustor AS6706T NAS, which has since been forgotten.
Mounted in RAID 1, I have no worries whatsoever. I've been loyal to this brand for years, my old disks having been in operation for almost ten years without failure, so I went back to this brand and I can only congratulate myself so far.
Very good writing speed, even on an external USB enclosure, compared to the generation of 8-10 year old Seagate drives. I haven't tested it on an internal sata bus, just to back up my PC, but I'll have to keep an eye on it in the long term,
I mistook it for a NAS backup. It took me less time than expected to copy everything. There were no faults and the drive didn't overheat during the operation. And it was relatively quiet compared with other drives (notably Seagate) used for the same purpose.
can be a bit noisy, but reliable, hardly heats up at all.
For mass storage in a nas.
Toshiba drives aren't my usual favourites, but I'm really impressed with the N300. Not only is it the quietest drive I've ever had, it also heats up the least. In addition to the very attractive price, this generation is still quite fast; without having done a benchmark, it reaches 270 Mb/s without any problem on large files, with peaks close to the manufacturer's 281 Mb/s, so it's very decent. The only thing I'm having trouble with is the incompatibility with my NAS, which prevents it from shutting down after a period of inactivity, even though it seems to go into standby mode. 20TB 7200rpm 512MB cache at this price? on the other hand, the MTBF of 1.2 million hours remains to be seen, but for me it's not a problem in my case.
Used in a fantec 4 bay usb nas: not very noisy, reliable, doesn't heat up much.
I recommend it, as it heats up much less than the Seagate and Werstern quality drives have become unaffordable.
LDLC paris centre staff very helpful :-)
I've installed the hard drive in my tower to store my images. I find it silent when I ask it to work.
Toshiba hard disks are always well made in terms of reliability and performance, their only downside being the sound volume, which is a little higher than that of their competitors. But for a NAS that doesn't sit close to your computer, this is negligible.
