Seek Error Rate after 6 days of use
The disk works perfectly in writing and reading but after only 6 days of use I have a mechanical error "Seek Error Rate" which I learned (by searching on the forums toshiba in particular) that it was relatively common on the 10Tb model of X300... It's a shame because the price/capacity/theoretical performance ratio is great.
For those who don't know, it's a mechanical error: the read head has to move several times before finding the right track to access the data. This does not immediately threaten the integrity of the data, but it does indicate that the disk is dying and that the data could, in time, suddenly be inaccessible.
The disk therefore logically misses its SMART check at boot time, which forces to enter the BIOS and temporarily disable SMART to be able to boot correctly...
I asked for an early replacement which LDLC granted me immediately (great after sales service as usual!), I will update the note and my commentary according to the quality of the new disk but be aware that the error is relatively common for this particular model (10Tb).
Apart from that the X300 series is really interesting, the drive is fast in reading and writing, clearly in the high range of performance on the market. The drive is sometimes a bit noisy (7200 rpm) but only occasionally. So I insist, if the new model works I will come back to update my note and my review.
