The NAS is perfect. I previously had a DS213j which was not responsive, especially with the Synology OS. With this one, it's nothing like that. I also like the people detection in Synology Photos. The OS is still top notch. And the shipping from LDLC is very fast and the NAS was very well packed. Thank you for everything.

I used to use my Raspberry Pi 4 (4Gb) with OpenMediaVault as a media server. But there was a big drawback: no transcoding and no RAID (possible to do, but not very nice). So I bought this DS220+ with two 6Tb WD Red Plus hard drives.
It's all good: easy to install and use, fast and versatile. The additional 4GB of RAM from Crucial (CT4G4SFS8266) gives it a boost!
Now we can even back up our data on this NAS.
For more security, I activated, among other things, the Firewall (not the OpenOffice one :D). I blocked all incoming connections and only allowed those from my private network.
I turned my old Synology NAS into a backup NAS. The DS220+ became my new NAS, for Personal Cloud (used by 4 people), storing our photos and videos.
The fears about the operation of transferring the old one to the new one evaporated very quickly after using the Synology application dedicated to this. It's a real pleasure to work with.

I am currently using it as a photo storage server to store, sort and share all the photos I have had for years.
I've also set up user accounts for family members outside the home and this allows us to share all our photos of events together. It's great, a home cloud.

The Synology DS220+ NAS was installed a few weeks ago. The installation was done without any problems in version 7 of the DSM system. I chose the suggested settings, no problem.
With two identical disks (4TB) the RAID mode is activated.
The operation is very fast, also in writing, much more than the old DS115 whose 2TB disk was almost full.
An excellent product, delivered without a hitch to the Paris Beaugrenelle shop where the welcome is always excellent too!

I must say that for the moment this product corresponds well to my expectations.

NAS with plenty of RAM to really use it as a media centre and cloud. Well thought out interface (looking forward to DSM 7). Very advanced software configuration. The SYNOLOGY environment is really great.
Aesthetically the NAS is nice and its connections are numerous. A real asset.
Only small regret: the auto-backup on iOS does not work (Synology Moments).
I used to have a DS212j (so almost 10 years old). I liked it, but the interface was very slow. Here, no more interface speed problems, as long as it lasts!
The problem is that it is not possible to transfer the disk(s) from the Synology NAS "j" range to a "+", nor to use the data migration tools! So even if I recommend changing the disk at the same time as the NAS, it's not always easy to do both at the same time.
In short, when migrating from an old Synology NAS to a new one, be sure to study the documentation for setting up the new one, because reconfiguring everything can be tedious.

I had originally ordered the DS220J model but the functionality was limited (especially regarding application installations via Docker).
This DS220+ model seems to be much more efficient and faster than the 220J.
The disks are also better placed and the scratching is more efficient which makes it less noisy than the 220J.
Thanks to LDLC for immediately taking back the 220J so I could get the 220+ which is more expensive but so much more practical.
I hesitated for a long time with a QNAP but the OS installed seems to me more cobbled together than the Synology one. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to buy a QNAP or a Synology, but I'm sure it's a good idea to buy a QNAP and not a Synology.
I have been using the procedure on the synology website to copy the 2 disks from my old DS231j. It was easy to do. I got an exact copy of the disks from my old NAS including the security certificates and passwords. Great.
The ssh, ftp, sftp, ftps protocols all work and are responsive, I can see the difference with the DS213j; all video formats play without slowing down on a local network or remotely under DS video (a real plus), deserves its 5 stars.

I ordered this naz because my netgear stocking abandoned me after 8 years of good and loyal service.
I have a synology 4 disk dsx18+.
I regret that it doesn't have a slot for an M.2 ssd for cache.
Very good design quality, relatively easy to set up.
The DS220+ is also quiet and its initial configuration is very accessible.
I do have some issues with the sync (only syncs folders but not the files contained). Even if it's probably a bug, it's very annoying to have to search for hours for the solution to our problem (while waiting for an answer from the after sales service).
For everything else it's a product that does the job, and the extra cost compared to an equivalent PC can be justified by the software suite and the simplicity of setting it up (when the synchronisation works).
