Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology
The first 4 ports of the DGS-1008P support the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. Each of these ports can provide up to 15.4 watts of power, making it ideal for applications that are too far from an electrical outlet or to limit the clutter of additional power supplies. The switch will automatically detect the type of power required by a connected PoE device, so no configuration is required. No configuration is required. A built-in safety mechanism will shut down the power in the event of an unexpected PoE overload, protecting the switch and the connected device.

Cable diagnostic function
Each time the switch is powered on, the DGS-1008P performs a micro diagnostic routine (MDR) to check the integrity of the connected Ethernet cables. If the system detects a fault, it is indicated by the front panel LEDs. This allows you to easily troubleshoot cabling problems.

QoS (Quality of Service)
Although it is an unmanaged, plug-and-play switch, the DGS-1008P can classify network traffic by evaluating existing 802.1p and DSCP fields of Ethernet frames and IP packets for forwarding according to priority. This allows video, voice and data traffic to be easily integrated without delay or loss of quality.

Energy-efficient technology
The DGS-1008P switch saves energy, reduces power consumption and extends product life without compromising operational performance or functionality. Green Ethernet technology delivers real power savings by assessing the length of connected cables to adjust the power supply accordingly, and by recognising the status of ports to put them in economy or standby mode if no network traffic is detected. These reductions in power consumption have enabled the removal of the fans from the DGS-1008P, making it a completely silent system.
