Powering down standby ports
When a computer or network device is turned off, the corresponding port on a conventional switch still consumes a lot of power. The TL-SG108 automatically detects the connection status of each port and reduces the power consumption of ports that are in standby mode, saving up to 72% power.

Power management by cable length
Logically, short cables should consume less power because of the low signal degradation along their length. This is not the case for all devices, which consume the same amount of power regardless of cable length, unlike the TP-LINK switch, which manages this consumption.
