The slightly fake look doesn't inspire much confidence, but it works as expected for the Seagate Momentus Slim 500GB I used it with.

The slightly fake look doesn't inspire much confidence, but it works as expected for the Seagate Momentus Slim 500GB I used it with.
I took this product to recover data from a faulty drive. I was able to recover everything without any problem, the USB 3.0 connection is ideal for fast copying.
The cable provided is really short! (I'm taking off half a star for this detail)
Bought to swap a few 2'5 and 3'5 HDDs easily, nothing to say, it works. The transfer rates are reasonable, but nothing more.
However, the USB cable is ridiculously short (50cm). So I had to buy another cable (I'm allergic to extension cords), and the cost is immediately less interesting.
2 years after buying it, and several uses, from one day to the next it doesn't work anymore. The light comes on but it doesn't read hard drives anymore... I've been using it for a while now, but I've never had it fall out of the box. I think it's mainly the USB 3 connector that is the cause of the problem. Really disappointing.
I had version 2 which did not allow formatting of partitions larger than 2TB under Mac.
With this USB3 version, I formatted my 4TB partitions on an old Mac mini running Sierra in USB2.
Nothing to report, does its job perfectly.
