After starting it up and connecting it to a USB 3.0 port (as indicated in the product description), it didn't work and even caused the OS to malfunction. After searching on the Internet, I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port and it worked (but don't be impatient!!!). What's more, I couldn't find a driver update on the manufacturer's website. Otherwise, the hardware itself is of good quality.

After several months of use, I am rather disappointed.
I have used different HDD's in this box, but when I plug it into my Win11 PC, it regularly disconnects, disrupting any data transfer or use. But on other PCs it seems to be fine. I have to put my HDDs in another box.
Bought to receive a disk to have an external disk on a Freebox POP...Works without any major problem...You just have to remember to turn it on or off when the TV player is off otherwise there is an error...This comes from the free software.

the connection in USB 3 mode does not work!
The disk is recognized but after a few minutes, there is a connection problem. It even looks like the disk partition is lost!
With a USB 2 connection: no problem
It's a shame to buy an enclosure that says USB3 to allow the use of a hard disk at its maximum potential but with a transfer rate of less than 50 MB/s
I needed an external case for an old HD IDE. This product corresponds 100% to my request. It was just a bit difficult to assemble to get the HD + cable into the case. I had to be very careful and use a lot of force, but it all fit! And once the box is closed (by screw), it's perfect!

I needed to be able to retrieve information from old IDE and Sata hard drives, this device gives me the possibility to do so. It comes with all the different connectors. It works with USB 3.
Random operation under win10 and slow access to the ide hard drive. If I have to lose my old ide hard drives, I would rather replace it with advance velocity disk S8 and buy a new SATA hard drive.
Product as described, very good for recycling HDDs to IDE. Very easy to mount for those who are a little bit careful; Instantly recognized as USB 3. So very good, although a bit expensive.....
it has sata/ide connectors for both power and data so it does all 3.5 drives, not bad!
They don't have a simple way to eject a drive, you have to unscrew it, but you can plug a drive in without putting it in the case, remember to connect the usb to the computer before pressing the button, in that case the button lights up when you press it, it only lights up if it's connected to an ordo, weird...
It looks durable, no problem. I give it 4 stars because it would have been better to be able to take the disc out of the case more easily, but it's a detail, it's still very good.
I ordered this version of the Velocity Disk to read my old IDE hard drives and it works perfectly. So far I am very happy with it.
I had a little trouble removing the small SATA cable from the case, but after it came out, I think it will be easier next time.
The disk disconnects in full operation: for example in the middle of a backup. This causes data loss.
Is it the insufficient power supply?
I have tested 2 sata disks and the disconnections are repeated.
I have also changed the cable.
Packing needs to be improved as there are many possibilities to move the purchased items in the box.
Very easy to assemble and use. The power button was mounted upside down compared to my previous purchase but that's just a matter of aesthetics when you have two side by side.
The power supply to the HDD is not cut off when my 4K TV is in standby mode, so everything goes smoothly when programming programmes to be recorded.

I bought this box to replace another box that broke down and was deactivating after "some time! Even if the manufacturing is not great, it is sufficient when you don't intend to remove the drive often.
To start with: the packaging is quite light (the disc has taken some knocks). For the moment, nothing to report about its functioning

The "Safely Remove" window to deactivate the disk turns off the box, it's misleading, you think it's off but it turns back on: you have to turn it off right after
Not quite finished: it is necessary to adjust with emery cloth and be very careful not to damage the screw threads.

I bought the ADVANCE VELOCITY DISK S10 with the Seagate BarraCuda 3Tb hard drive (ST3000DM008). Easy installation, the hardware is of very good quality! I am delighted with it. We'll see what happens in the long term!

An old computer that no longer works. The essential software installed on it cannot be found in its "antique" version. The IDE hard drive was automatically recognized and works as an external drive: I was doubtful though.

This is the second Advance Velocity Disk S10 enclosure I've bought in three years and since then I've never had any reliability concerns; relatively easy to open, easy to install the hard drive, nice design and no transformers have failed me after two years of heavy use. Reliable equipment for good value for money.
Simple to fit, just six screws and it's done, very discreet and very quiet. Good value for money with more connectors in the box, enough to plug in an old hard drive.
I chose this product because it allows the installation of IDE HDDs. In theory yes, except that the IDE ribbon is very short and if the HDD connector is not exactly opposite the interface card of the case, the disk is crooked and the installation in the case is not great. This is a problem with most old IDE drives. The case would have been a bit longer with a longer cable, but there would have been no problem.
But no problem with Sata HDDs. But for this type of Sata HDD I prefer the IcyBox IB319.
On the other hand no problem of functioning, under WinXP, Win7 or Win 10
I am very happy with this box. The purpose for me was to recover my personal data from my crashed internal drive. The mounting of the disk in this case is simple. Well, a small defect, the cable tray is a bit short...). The operation was successful without any problem.

I use it with an IDE hard drive, and it works perfectly with a USB 3.1 connection.
The assembly is simple and intuitive: I didn't even need to take out my screwdriver, there was a small one supplied with it.
The box says IDE / SATA HDD so so far so good and so I open the box and I see the very bad surprise ... I can connect a HDD in IDE super but it's been 5 years I was on SATA and so I look for an adapter in the box to connect the HDD and nothing ... 30 screwed up, a scam, avoid ...
Good little box, not too bulky, easy to set up, with the addition of a 2Tb WD drive, the on/off button acts as a light, nice to follow the activity of the drive

I've been using this product for some time now and it is very good, but I'm not sure if it's the right one for me.
Easy to unpack and install. You get a real external hard drive, for cheap.
However, it's a pain to have to remove 4 screws to change the drive, and the slot could have been a little bit bigger, so as not to be bothered with the cables (especially the cable tray).
Y4 has everything you need to plug in any type of HDD...
I've mounted it, it looks solid.
It's a sign of good quality too, the HDD is holding very well on its base... it's not an old wobbly plastic thing.
So that's reassuring.
And for this price...
The first one I received didn't work, LDLC did the exchange very well and since then it's been perfect. I've been using it for a while now and it's been great. The aim was to make a high capacity external hard drive but at a lower cost.
And I must say that I am not disappointed! The installation is very simple, the recognition by Windows is instantaneous and above all complete: I installed a 4Tb disk which are well recognized.
I have installed a 4TB drive which is well recognised. The box is also well finished and is very quiet (next to a PC, you can't hear it).
The only "drawback" is that even if you unplug the case from a PC, the power button goes off but the drive continues to work. You have to press the power button to disable the drive.
I have to say that I am very pleased with this product, as it is a great value for money and a great value for money.
The product corresponds to what I expected. The disk is well protected in the case, and the USB3 operation is a plus.
