The HD packing was really good. And LDLC corrected a mistake I made on my adress very quickly after I tell them.. So I was able te receive my HD at home.
:)
For info I use it in a Synology DS718+
Toshiba's 3.5-inch S300 Surveillance Hard Drive is designed and tested to provide reliable 24/7 surveillance. It combines speed, capacity and extended content retention. With the S300, you can capture and analyse every high-definition image from up to 32 cameras. Space is important, as it ensures that the history of video evidence is captured for a defined period. With storage capacity from 1TB, you can record and play back real-time events in high resolution, with object identification and facial recognition.

The S300 drive is designed and tested to support up to 64 high-definition cameras, and to work with your security camera systems. Compatible with digital video recorders, network video recorders, video servers and video management systems, it guarantees permanent security. Surveillance is permanent and you can rest easy.
The 256 MB buffer and high transfer speeds meet the data monitoring demands of high-resolution camera streams. Toshiba Dynamic Cache Technology improves real-time drive performance by optimising cache allocation during the read/write cycle using an on-board cache algorithm and buffer management system.

Conventional hard disk drives without VR sensors can degrade the performance of a multi-bay system by generating harmful vibration. The S300 drive ensures high reliability by reducing vibration through control and sensor technology. Numerous sensors detect the slightest shock, and integrated RV sensors compensate for rotational vibration, limiting the risk of harmful vibration in multi-bay surveillance systems.
The high endurance, high reliability components of the S300 drive are resistant to harsh environments. High temperature environments trigger optimised seek speeds to reduce power consumption while minimising noise and vibration. When using security cameras, you gain peace of mind, as you can count on one million hours of Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) and 180TB per year of workload.

For info I use it in a Synology DS718+
product suitable for my use for backup on a NASS .
An affordable price for a 2T.
I recommend.
Incredibly quiet drive at idle and during continuous read & write. In random read-write, by contrast, it makes itself heard: a small drum roll more in the low frequencies, fortunately not too unpleasant.
Under Linux, APM doesn't change much and AAM doesn't seem to be supported (`hdparm -B` and `hdparm -M 128 /dev/sdX`? "SG_IO: bad/missing sense data, f0 00 05 04 53 40 80 0a 00 00 00 00 24 00...(x19) acoustic = not supported").
# hdparm -Tt /dev/sdX
/dev/sdX:
Timing cached reads: 1210 MB in 2.00 seconds = 604.73 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 566 MB in 3.00 seconds = 188.43 MB/sec
I logically agreed with the salesperson's arguments and changed my choice of hard drives. I opted for two 4TB hard drives instead of four 2TB hard drives in order to increase my capacity without rendering the 2TB hard drives useless.
I use the Toshiba S300 4Tb (HDWT840UZSVA) in a Proxmox server. The drive is silent, reliable and perfectly suited to continuous use. Problem-free installation, immediately recognised. Excellent value for money.
I'm very happy with my purchase!
Order arrived super fast, discs well packed.
I put them to use straight away (to be seen over the long term in terms of reliability), they are very fast, great storage, work very well and then the noise...
I've never heard mechanical hard drives that were so quiet and didn't vibrate very much.
(And as for the capacity and price per gigabyte, I've got absolutely nothing to complain about!
I've taken two disks so that I can make two identical backups, but the copy is excruciatingly slow. I use it as a USB drive on an external dock, which may be the cause of the problem, but I've made terabytes of backups with this configuration.
In short, avoid it for this use.
I've put it in my personal NAS (it's been on almost 24/7 for a little over 2 years but I don't use it very intensively) and from time to time it has problems that cause it to be temporarily excluded from the ZFS volume (I don't really understand the exact problem). You have to reboot the machine and it starts up again: it's worrying and abnormal. The other two drives (WD and Seagate) didn't have any problems.
As far as I'm concerned, Toshiba is finished.
A very good hard drive for archiving purposes and, above all, at a very low price. It's a good option if you're looking for a solid-state drive with slightly less performance than a conventional hard drive used as a working drive.
The parcel was received on time and very well packaged. All the parts I ordered were very well packaged.
