With this removable rack designed by ICY DOCK your NVMe M.2 SSDs no longer need to be installed on a motherboard or riser card with a small screw and can now be installed and accessed from the front of your computer without any tools. The ToughArmor MB720M2K-B is designed for tool-free M.2 drive installation. It will offer easy drive maintenance and easy system upgrades.
The ToughArmor MB720M2K-B supports up to 4x M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs with ultra-fast PCIe x4 transfer speeds up to 32GB/s per channel via MiniSAS HD (SFF-8643). It also supports all standard M.2 drive lengths from 30mm to 110mm (2230, 2242, 2260, 2280, 22110). In addition, while working together with a number of ventilation holes around the enclosure, each drive tray is equipped with a high-efficiency aluminum heatsink to ensure that all M.2 NVMe SSDs remain at optimal temperatures even when fully loaded. Ultimately, your drives will be well protected in this metal enclosure and a keyed barrel lock will prevent unauthorised physical access.
Easier and more efficient installations
A typical M.2 drive is installed on a motherboard or riser card and is secured by a tiny screw. Physically installing or removing the drive can be a very time-consuming and tedious process. However, with the ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB720M2K-B, M.2 drives are placed in the front of a computer case and installation and removal of M.2 NVMe SSDs is simpler and more efficient.
Support for all lengths of M.2 SSDs
The ToughArmor MB720M2K-B's innovative adjustable M.2 rack slide accommodates all standard PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD lengths, including 2230 (30mm), 2242 (42mm), 2260 (60mm) and 22110 (110mm), making this tray universal for all drive lengths and making the extra-long 22110 (110mm) M.2 drive future proof.
Real performance and efficient cooling
To fully utilise the speeds of the M.2 NVMe SSD, each drive uses its own miniSAS HD connector (SFF-8643), which maximises the potential transfer rate of the M.2 NVMe SSD of 32 GB/s in each drive, more than 5 times faster than the previous SATA standard, making it an ideal solution for data-intensive applications such as real-time servers, high-performance PCs, deep-learning machines, and 4k/8k/3D multimedia workstations.
M.2 NVMe SSDs are notorious for their overheating problem, which leads to performance degradation and slower transfer speeds. ICY DOCK understands this problem and has fully equipped this rack with a high-efficiency, extra-large aluminium heatsink installed on each ToughArmor MB720M2K-B tray. In addition, each ToughArmor MB720M2K-B includes a pair of thermal pads to ensure that excess heat is well dispersed throughout the heatsink.
