Very good product
Product meets my expectations and the description. Does the job
The discs don't make too much noise

After a little over a year of use, my 2 disks bought at the same time are still working and their state of health has not changed despite intensive use of my NAS by around 4-5 users.
A big positive point: I was delivered to an LDLC shop and on the spot, without my having to ask, the sales assistant offered to check the serial numbers of the disks to see if they were from the same series. This is to avoid the risk that if one drive is faulty, the other will also be faulty before long (something that a major online retailer whose name I won't mention does not do ;-) )
Well received and functional hard drive.
Good value for money.

A robust drive, with convincing transfer speeds for its attractive price.
I'm using 2 4TB drives for my Synology NAS. They're perfect.
The LDLC site is as efficient as ever, HDD received on time. Return of equipment following an error in the choice of ref.
I had chosen a non-compatible ref. Unfortunately, the recommended HDDs are not referenced by Synology either. I did not want to make a second return of material. I hope that they will hold in time.
Disk bought in advance as a replacement for a NAS server, one of the disks being marked as critical.
Impossible to give a judgement, moreover the purchase of a DD became a lottery, Either the disc makes 10 years or more, or it makes 3 or 4 years, I have the case for my 2 discs bought at the same time, same mark, same reference, I speak in knowledge of cause. To be continued.
good equipment, well packaged, easy to assemble
the only problem is that I don't know anything about it (what software to install (or not), management and use)
Directly into my Synology to replace the same one after 72000 hours of operation. 7 years of P2P. Reference drive.
I bought 2 hdd's to mount a RAID 1 on a NAS, Odroid HC4 and OpenMediaVault. No particular problem, see how long the disks last.
LDLC service is always perfect.
For the type of disk (5400rpm), mounted in raidz1 in my NAS with truenas, I am limited in writing speed by the network, which is a good sign.
I bought 4 of these drives for my new DS923+ NAS. (i.e. 10.5 TB of useful btrfs volume).
I'm not sure how to judge the performance of a NAS with a personal/semi-pro use. I'm not a big fan of the DS416Play, so it does the job for me (it's the change of model that makes the difference). I've never had to put extra SSD/nVME/RAM in the NAS to get decent performance.
Noise: the noise at startup/end of standby is quite... let's say "worrying" .... it sounds like a 5000W three-phase motor starting up... (all things considered).... But once started, no noise.
No heating problem either... the NAS ventilates at minimum, and everything stays cool;
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have a NAS that's not a good one, but I'm sure it's a good one.
The quality of Seagate has been variable over the last 20 years... we'll see....
In any case, they won't do any worse than my old Western Digital Red 3Tb drives, of which I had to replace 2 out of the 4 in 6 years, (defective sectors, catastrophic s.m.a.r.t. alerts, even intermittent complete disconnections...).
Ideal for installation in RAID 1 in a NAS. For my part in 1 Synology DS 720+
Not necessarily the most expensive but I defy anyone to see any difference in performance.
The read and write times depend more on the quality of your network.
It's hard to talk about reliability after a month of use, that's the job of others than me... In any case RAS and considering the reputation of the material I am serene.
It's hard to tell after a few weeks of use, it's the durability that matters most for the security of the storage. I bought 4 of them for a home NAS, in RAID5 mode on 3 disks (simple redundancy) and therefore have a spare in case of failure, for immediate replacement.
In software RAID 5 with intel i3 12100 under OMV, the performances are very correct: 275 Mb/s in writing and 315 Mb/s in reading, average on a transfer of video files and archives.
The test was done on a large volume (72 GB) and with reboot between the two operations. I used a powerful PCIe 4 NVMe M2 module (Crucial P5 Pus) for the source/target swap so that the mechanical disks are the weakest link! It's great for my use, I didn't expect to reach this level, good surprise then.
On the other hand, I'm disappointed with the acoustic level, by asking for the silent mode in OMV, especially as the discs are mounted on rubber. This is not very serious because the box, which amplifies perhaps a little by box effect, is installed outside the rooms, but I did not expect it... One star less because of this.
For the rest, the disk is supposed to offer a good life time in this NAS version, and does its job perfectly
Ordered what I expected. Bought 2 units to equip a NAS to build a RAID 1 array on it. Hard drives dedicated to this use, according to the data sheet: Perfect for NAS.
I would like to thank the LDLC technicians for the explanations provided and discussed on the different types of RAID and their use. I don't understand why you consider RAID 1 as a backup! For me, RAID 1 remains a data redundancy in the continuity of services, in case of failure of a disk, but not a backup.
I'm not sure why you would consider RAID 1 as a backup, but it's not a backup.
Purchased to replace a disk of my NAS installed in 2016 and which the SMART indicates to me that it is time to change it.
6 years of life in 24/7 is quite honourable for this type of equipment!
Perfect, except that on receipt the disk is not recognized by Windows. After an exchange with the service, I learn that it is necessary to initialize the disk under Windows, very simple to do when you know the procedure. Since the disk works perfectly. Very happy with my purchase.
Product as described, excellent disk for nas. 256 MB cache memory, fast transfer.
Fast and secure delivery.
Product conforms, reception faster than expected.
Easy to install. I'm very pleased with the quality of the product and the quality of the service.
I recommend it.
I am very pleased with the quality of the product and the service.
