I had a western digital that lasted 3 years and that I used as backup storage....
It seems to be common for western digital to break down just after the warranty period.
This one has replaced it perfectly for 2 years now and there have been no problems to report.
I've been using a PC assembled at LDLC for quite a few years, it was updated by the staff at the LDLC shop in Annemasse a few years ago to install Windows 11 and it still works perfectly :-)
I'm putting this hard drive in because I work a lot with videos and films and I need lots of space for my files.
Thanks a lot!
The 1st model I received was DOA but was very quickly changed by LDLC. Fairly quiet mechanical drive, no noticeable noise when accessing. Very good capacity/price ratio.
Everything is perfect, nothing to report, received on time (quickly), quick and easy payment. Product in perfect condition.
The pre-order advisor was very helpful in helping me choose the hard drive I was looking for.
Order delivered very quickly.
Everything is OK
The barracuda range has already proved its worth, so for those of you who know it, there's no need to say any more. For those who don't know, I invite you to try it as a matter of urgency!
I needed a disk with a large volume to install in one of my machines to store videos of all kinds. I'm not looking for performance but reliability.
Obviously, the installation was very quick and everything works correctly (even happier). Only time will tell the answer to my initial question: is this HDD reliable?
It remains to be seen whether this model can be installed in a NAS, but I suppose so.
good hardware I recommend, not that slow compared to an SSD very good writing speed
to install my windows 11 pro OS
product conforms to my requirements and fast delivery even for the DOM; I highly recommend this site!
I have tried to go elsewhere, but I always come back to Seagate: in my experience, Seagate barracuda have a longer life than other equivalents, a very acceptable noise level (mandatory because it has to run), and are very competitively priced. I recommend it.
Works great especially for storage.
Very good transfer rate and above all does not make any noise
Item arrived in perfect condition at the shop.
Works very well.
I had a HD tune (which I recommend to everyone) to ensure the integrity of a hard drive.
Here is the result of the one I just received.

The second HDD of this capacity and model, but this one is fully recognised in every respect. Could it be that its BIOS is slightly different from the model from 12 months ago?
These drives do the job very well, used as storage drives in my Synology NAS. Quiet, and low vibration. It's perfect for my use.
Fast shipping, real professional work.
The article corresponds exactly to my expectations.
I am very satisfied with the product.
In addition to being able to write data to it, it also makes it possible to read that data.
Progress is unstoppable.
8TB!
At first, I thought I was going to go for a 6TB drive from the same brand but I chose this model. And I am not disappointed!
The writing is fast but as said in the title, this disk presents some slowness when opening one of the folders present on it. I'm taking away one star for that.
It is not that which will prevent me from buying a new one.
It doesn't make any noise and that's an excellent point!
As I said, if I had to buy another one, I would definitely buy the same one. I have been loyal to the Seagate brand for many years.
The LDLC delivery is great, the package was well packed. I have to say that I'm very happy with the service and the quality of the product. I'm very happy with it!
The disk was recognized in 2 partitions on windows (2Tb and 5,6Tb) of which only the first partition of 2Tb was usable, I had to use linux commands to be able to modify the partition table because windows saw an error on the disk. Once modified with GPARTED (fdisk), I was finally able to use it on windows and finally recognized as an 8TB disk.
I was looking for a good capacity HDD for a reasonable budget. I went for this product which I thought was good value for money. After comparing prices elsewhere, and looking at reviews left and right, I decided to go with LDLC.
This hard drive was physically installed and started up without any problems. It has been working properly for about 1 month almost 24 hours a day.
Very good packaging, very satisfactory access time, very competitive price/quality ratio.
Easy to format, nothing to report.
Fast and impeccable delivery.
Excellent packaging.
Product corresponds to the need: massive storage but no need for performance.
I've been using it for a while now, but it seems to work fine, but it's not fully recognized by my Asus M/B desktop: there's no way to "name" the HDD, and GParted (Linux partitioning tool) has problems with it. Bios too old? In any case, the WD with the same capacity does not have this problem.
The barracuda series impresses me with its solidity.
I have mounted 4 in a QNAP expansion box in RAID
Fast reading and writing. Copies of large files or a multitude of small files are silent. You can hear the drive working without being disturbed.
Quieter drive than I expected. I use it as a backup drive on an external enclosure or NAS. Perfect for this use.
I have to remember to format the partition in GPT otherwise Windows only recognizes 2.2 TB; which took me a while to understand accusing Windows 10 of 1,000 words.... I've been using this brand for years, but it's quiet and I'm waiting to see how long it lasts.
Works well, without any particular noise.
Note that this model does less and less at the smart level (no support for offline surface scanning), compared to smaller and older drives.
In March 2019, one of the lowest prices per terabyte.
As usual, 8TB from vendors, 7.23TB from OS, depending on whether you count in 1000 or 1024.
Very satisfactory packaging and delivery time.
Acquired to replace an identical 4TB model which had given up the ghost (temperature sensor defect which indicates overheating and causes the shutdown protocol).
I've only been using this 8TB (ST8000DM004) for 2 months, so it's still too early to really give feedback on its reliability, but for the moment there's nothing to say, it's doing the expected service.
Note that this 8TB model is more discreet than the 4TB model, which was particularly loud when booting.
Packed in a suitable manner for delivery to the shop.
