Warm, rich and resolutely musical sound reproduction
Inspired by the legacy of the Hong Kong group The Wynners, the FiiO Warmer R2R combines the organic character of tubes with the precision of R2R digital-to-analogue conversion. Its fully differential proprietary architecture is based on 192 high-precision thin-film resistors, while four JJ Electronic E88CC tubes bring greater smoothness, texture and scale to the listening experience. Behind its elegant retro aesthetic, highlighted by two genuine backlit mechanical VU meters, it accommodates numerous digital sources thanks to its USB inputs, optical and coaxial inputs. Its RCA and XLR line outputs, which can be used simultaneously, make it easy to integrate into a Hi-Fi system with active speakers, an amplifier or a headphone amplifier.
A true fully differential 24-bit R2R DAC
At the heart of the Warmer R2R lies a proprietary four-channel R2R converter, fully differential and offering a true 24-bit resolution. It uses a total of 192 thin-film resistors, 48 per channel, selected for their 0.1% precision and very low drift of 30 ppm. This sophisticated design directly contributes to the device’s distinctive sound signature. Two conversion modes also make it possible to adapt the sound reproduction to personal preferences: NOS mode preserves the original sampling rate to favour direct and natural reproduction, while OS mode performs global oversampling up to 384 kHz for a more detailed and clearer sound.
Four E88CC tubes and a carefully designed linear power supply
The tube buffer stage uses four new JJ Electronic E88CC tubes made in Slovakia and powered at ±28 V. Rated for a lifespan of 10 000 hours, they are housed in an optimised preamplification circuit to enrich the sound with a smooth, full and organic tone. This architecture is supported by a 46 W linear power supply incorporating a low-noise, low-loss audio toroidal transformer. Its non-oriented silicon steel core and winding without sharp angles promote high efficiency, limit eddy currents and reduce magnetic leakage. The grille chassis finally accelerates heat dissipation, helping preserve the device’s stability and performance over time.
