Display ok but USB C disappointing
I bought this screen partly for its integrated USB C connectivity.
Indeed I use it with either my work laptop (Dell Latitude in Thunderbolt 3) or my personal PC (LG Gram 16 in Thunderbolt 4).
I was planning to use the USB C connector for :
- connecting a second screen (IIyama 27") in display port supporting the same resolution as the Samsung
- connecting to my gigabit ethernet network
- connecting my external speakers via the jack output
- use the integrated USB hub for keyboard and mouse
I was disappointed on this point for the following reasons;
- the sound of the audio jack output is noisy/paraistatic, I quickly gave up
- the network connection is sometimes interrupted, it's rare but annoying when it happens in the middle of a conference call
- when I connect my LG Gram 16, I sometimes have a loss of video signal for 1 or 2 seconds on the 32" screen and only that one: the laptop screen or my second 27" screen connected in display port on the Samsung does not lose the signal. I have of course tried to update my drivers but without success. I noticed that disabling Chrome's hardware acceleration could avoid the problem, so it's hard to say if it's the screen that's at fault or the PC or a combination of both. I don't have the phenomenon on my work PC either.
One last point: contrary to what is indicated on the LDLC file, it is indicated in the documentation that only the 24-inch version supports a power of up to 80 Watts in power delivery via the "power boost". In fact, the 32" is obviously limited to 65 Watts
In summary, there is nothing to say about the display, the resolution is adapted to the size for office use.
On the other hand, I was quite disappointed with the USB-C connectivity which does not keep all its promises, even if it is possible that some of the problems are more related to my PC than to the screen itself.
