Overview

Noctua NH-U12S chromax black version continues to deliver exceptional silence

Noctua' s NH-U12S chromax black is a "full black" version of the Noctua NH-U12S, the famous silent premium CPU ventirad. Thanks to its slimmer heatsink design and the integration of the NF-F12 PWM fan, this model maintains the NH-U12S's level of excellence, with exceptional levels of performance and silence, as well as amazing compatibility with cases, memory and PCIe slots. The chromax.black version offers a look of rare elegance and sobriety, thanks to the black radiator casing and black fans. Supplied with the famous SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste and backed by a full 6-year manufacturer's warranty, the NH-U12S chromax.black is the perfect top-of-the-range choice for those looking for an ultra-compatible 120 mm cooler that's as beautiful as it is efficient.

120 mm tower format

At 158 mm high, the NH-U12S is short enough to fit into most of today's mid-range and high-end tower cases.

Full RAM compatibility

Thanks to its slim design (45mm deep fins), the NH-U12S does not encroach on the area dedicated to RAM modules, even when two fans are installed.

NF-F12 120mm Focused Flow fan

Acclaimed by over 150 specialist articles and thousands of users worldwide, the NF-F12 Focused Flow is a fan renowned for its astonishing static pressure, cooling performance and extremely low noise level.

Compatibility with old and new sockets

Compliant with the SecuFirm open standard, the NH-U12S can be made compatible with older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets by using the optional MM-I3 mounting kit, which is supplied free of charge by Noctua.

PWM and Low Noise Adapter (L.N.A.) compatibility

The 120mm NF-A12 fan can benefit from automatic PWM speed control. To further reduce noise emissions, the maximum speed can be capped at 1200rpm (instead of 1500rpm) by using the Low Noise Adapter (L.N.A.).

SecuFirm2 mounting system

SecuFirm2 fastening systems meet the highest expectations in terms of quality, safety and ease of installation. It ensures perfect contact pressure and maximum installation comfort on all current sockets.

Information provided by our tech department Warning: because of its large dimensions, the fan may protrude into the first memory slot or the first PCI slot on some motherboards (particularly for formats smaller than ATX). A minimum ATX motherboard is therefore recommended for installation of this model. In line with Noctua's policy of providing its top-of-the-range SecuFirm2 mounting systems free of charge, owners of eligible fan models will be able to order the NM-i17xx-MP78 kit free of charge once the motherboards and LGA 1700 CPUs are available. Proof of purchase (electronic version, photo or scan of invoice) of an eligible Noctua cooler and either a LGA 1700 motherboard or LGA 1700 CPU will be required. Superb

Doesn't take up too much space in the PC and the thermal paste is included. The instructions are very well done and easy to follow.

    Noctua, always excellent, but ....

I've been a loyal fan of the brand since 2012, and I've never been disappointed, because their cooling is excellent, and the finish and mounting system are simple and reliable, unlike some brands where you have to be an engineer to mount it.
Before this one, I had the NHU 9S, and well in all honesty, apart from the fact that it is of course slightly quieter, and even then, it is the noise that is not the same, because when fully loaded you can still hear it, it does not cool enormously better than my old NHU-9S. Only 5 degrees difference when fully loaded.
The advantage is that it looks completely black, otherwise honestly, with my Ryzen 7 2700x, I have very similar temperatures between my old NHu-9S and the Nhu-12S here. I'm not sure if you're a fan of overclocking, but if you're a fan of oc, you'll probably see a difference, but if you're a fan of overclocking, you'll see a difference. The little noctua's already do the job very well.
