I chose this model referenced on openwrt.org, in the "I want to buy a router that is supported by OpenWrt" section. However, there is no release for the moment (March 2021), but the snaphots are installed without any problem.
Once openwrt is installed and configured, the MR8300 does the job well and is easy to forget, especially as the local adoption of IPv6 makes communications much smoother.
If you're looking for real routing management, don't bother.
There is a certain quality to the MR8300 but I was rather put off by the software layer. The routing management is too simplistic and limited in my opinion.
The management of wifi slots and parental controls for example are less well provided than on a freebox server.
Not a fan of the Android app either.
The Velop technology would be the only advantage on this device. I'm using it alone for the moment and am really hesitant to add kiosks, given the rather hefty prices.
Acquired to complement 3 existing VELOP kiosks to extend the network. Easy to set up and works perfectly.
