Overview

Define R6: no limits

As the heir to the Define series, Fractal Design's Define R6 case goes beyond expectations. With a host of features cleverly designed for enthusiasts, it's a quiet case ready for a powerful, expandable air- or liquid-cooling system, built with a stunning Scandinavian-inspired design. Want to expand your system with water cooling or additional fans? You can easily change the layout to suit your new needs!

Enjoy optimal cooling

The Define R6 is a silent monster, thanks to the dense, strategically placed ModuVent sound insulation material and the Dynamic series fans. The R6 has plenty of space for large watercooling systems or 185mm high fans.

It is equipped with the new ModuVent 'tool-free' fan slot covers. The user can install additional fans, or cover the slots for maximum sound insulation. The case comes with three 140mm Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP14 fans, designed to provide superlative airflow with minimal noise. Equipped with the new Nexus+ smart HUB, you'll be able to control up to 6 fans through it.

Classy design and engineering

The Fractal Design Define R6 features a rugged design that's engineered to be absolutely silent. The entire case is lined with a highly sound-absorbing material that does not restrict airflow or cooling. A dust cover is fitted to the R6. These filters are easily accessible and are located at the front and bottom air intakes.

The front door can be installed with either a right or left hand opening to fit your workspace. This high-performance housing is also available in a windowed version. Practical, robust, powerful and ultra-designed, it will satisfy gamers looking for a top-of-the-range case.

Adaptability: create the machine of your dreams!

The Define R6 was designed withadaptability in mind. Up to 8 hard drives and all modern graphics cards can be accommodated. Two SSD slots are provided behind the motherboard bracket and offer a "tool-free" installation. The HDD/SSD trays are robust and offer security for your drives, while a new, more open design ensures better air circulation.

The hard drive cage system can accommodate up to six 3.5" or 2.5" drives. It is more adaptable than ever. The user can change the cage layout as desired, with more slots available. The optical disc cage is easily removable to save space inside. Space can be freed up to improve airflow, to change the location of hard drives or to install additional water cooling components.

    Very good silent box

A good, quiet enclosure that remains relatively quiet under load, once the fan control is correctly configured (for use in a music studio). The construction is solid and there's plenty of room inside, especially for large fans. The panels are easy to open and close. Cable routing is efficient and access to internal components is practical. One specific feature I needed was a slot for a 5"1/4 module, which is becoming less and less common.

In my configuration, I found no use for the fan hub. I've connected them all directly to the motherboard and there's nothing wrong with that. The button to open the top of the tower is a little too accessible, and you're quick to press it inadvertently, which is a bit of a shame.

Apart from the rather high price in absolute terms, the main flaw I can see at the moment is the non-removable partition at the bottom left-hand side, which makes it difficult to connect cables to a modular power supply. It's probably there to ensure the rigidity of the whole thing, but a version with holes through which you could put your hands (and let the light through) would have been preferable. Still, it's a minor problem.

After that, I'm not a big fan of the black interior colour, I prefer a light, bright colour for the interior that lets you see what you're handling, but I think I can make that criticism of the vast majority of black towers.

My case hasn't been in service long enough to be able to give feedback on the dust filters, but so far they're holding up pretty well.

In conclusion, it's a very good body, and despite a few faults, if I had to build a new tower I'd probably go for the same model.

simple, uncluttered design, it's very easy to modulate and bigger in real life.

    Excellent medium-format camera

I've been using it (without moving it) for 4 years, with absolutely no problems. The space is well designed, you can upgrade without worrying, and the ventilation is good. Even with my latest CG, Gigabyte's RX 7900 GRE OC, the temperature remains just right, although you can still hear the beast through the case's insulation. So there's no need to add cooling, but with a powerful CG, you'll hear it in play.
Cleaning is a breeze, thanks to the removable panels that you simply slide out of the case.
Definitely an investment worth making, unless you need a large format.

    For a new configuration

A large case with a very sober design allowing the components to "breathe". First case of this brand that I discover, it is a purchase that I do not regret.

    Very good.

I saw a lot of videos on the net before making a choice; I am not disappointed.
After having had an "Antec three hundred two" which did the job well, and switching to this "FRACTAL DESIGN DEFINE R6 BLACK" is not a problem; quite the contrary.

    On the positive side :
    - There is more than enough room for a gamer setup.
    - 9 fan slots, with an air flow that is not too constrained.
    - The cable management is very well done.
    - The "Smart HUB Nexus+" can be very practical if required.
    - A large number of bays: 1 x 5.25"; 6 x 3.5" for HDD/SSD (on trays); 2 x 2.5" for HDD/SSD.
    - 1 x 5.25" bay with depth adjustment!
    - Graphics card can be installed vertically.
    - Sound insulation is good.
    - Removable dust filters in the right places.
    - Panels do not have to be screwed down to be closed.
    - The "roof" of the case is removable, and hides a particle filter.

    The negative:
    - The screw threads are rather "fragile".
    - The fixing of the power supply is not very practical.
    - The price is a bit high.

    In short:
"Fractal Design" will become one of my preferences for my next configurations. But... the price is a bit high...

    Very good

Very nice case, solid, well designed. Comes with 3 fans, 2 in front, 1 in the back. I put it on the floor, under my desk. Small fan noise to report, like a hissing sound (quiet, muffled sound, perfectly even, like an air conditioning system). I can't say I'm bothered.

    Classy!

In addition to the timely delivery, this case is efficient and beautiful!
Everything fits inside without stepping on each other (2 SSD + 2HDD).
I find its price a bit high, but as the quality is there... It's totally justified.

    ultra modular, beautiful finish

The case is suitable for all needs and configurations. Larger fans and toilets should not be a problem.
    just two problems:
    - the 20+1 pin to connect to the motherboard is a "hook", extremely difficult to remove. extremely difficult to remove. Risk of damaging the MC
    - lack of explanation on the capabilities and operation of the fan hub of the case

    Excellent

I bought from Fractal Design a few years ago and was very happy with it.

This Define R6 is even better, the layout is really well thought out. The hardware is well supplied in good number.
    3 huge 140 silent fans.
There is an installation booklet that explains well the different ways to install the components in different positions.

    The pluses:
    - Very strong and ergonomic materials
    - Sobriety
    - Ultra quiet
    - Good quality/price ratio
    - Easy installation and cable management

    The cons :
    - A bit heavy

    Phew!

I read a lot of articles before choosing this tower and I must admit that I am not disappointed.

There is plenty of room to work inside and it's very pleasant. The cable passages are ideally located and allow the motherboard to be properly ventilated.

In terms of noise, it's very well insulated. The fans are not audible (wind noise barely audible). The dust filters are positioned in front of the fans that suck in air (front panel and power supply). Unfortunately I don't have enough experience to tell you about their efficiency.

The hard disk cage is well thought out even if I have a little trouble clipping the disks in (you have to be patient). Moreover, if 6 disks are not enough for you, it is easy to find additional cages. Be careful though, you will be limited to 11 thick hard drives (12 thin).

A small drawback, however, is that the top of the tower opens with a push button. I find the idea stupid, but above all the button does not react very well. I have to pull it back while I click to get it to close properly.

So in conclusion, I will probably switch from Cooler Master to Fractal Design for my next creations.
