All products in the redux series offer excellent longevity and meet industry standards for quality. All have helped Noctua build its reputation as a market leader in high-end silent cooling components.
.
Vortex-Control Notches
The Vortex-Control Notches, which are unique to Noctua, disperse the vortexes developing at the tip of the blade and thus distribute the sound emissions over a wider frequency range. The result is a more pleasing sound to the human ear.
Bevelled Blade Tips
By reducing the mechanical phenomena between the rotor and the stator, Bevelled Blade Tips increase the surface area of the blades while reducing noise. This optimisation is the key to the fan's amazing efficiency.
Exclusive PWM circuit with SCD
Enabling full automatic PWM speed control, the fan uses the newly developed proprietary NE-FD1 PWM IC that incorporates Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology. By promoting less abrupt torque pulses, SCD eliminates PWM switching noise, allowing the fan to remain quieter at low speeds.
SSO-Bearing
By combining a hydrodynamic bearing with a complementary magnet, SSO-Bearing technology greatly enhances the fan's performance, while providing a cathedral-like silence.
Optional accessories
With anti-vibration seals, 3/4-pin adapters and Y-cables, this range of Noctua fans has a wide range of accessories to meet the demands of your configuration.
6 year manufacturer's warranty
Noctua fans are renowned for their reliability. The Redux series models operate for up to 150,00 hours and come with a 6 year manufacturer's warranty.

    Super 9 cm

I needed more ventilation on a CPU heatsink, but unfortunately no space (very compact ITX case).
So I took this Noctua of the same size as the original.
It's one of the Redux family, so it's grey (which is not bad), and packaging limited to 4 screws and nothing more (which is not bad either) and cheaper.
Good news, the engines are those of the current generation and not those of the previous one like the previous Redux.
Installation in 2 min, the direction of blow and rotation are marked on the frame, and it's good.
I close the box, I test...
Result much less noise, and much lower temperature even at high load: in short, another Noctua at the top.

Noctua's new PWM is incompatible with older motherboards

Because the NF-B9 fan is detected as faulty by the motherboard due to the Noctua PWM circuitry being incompatible with older motherboards. Same problem with two different NF-B9 fans. It would be nice if the LDLC site would warn its customers of this problem.

    Muffler

Bought as a replacement for a standard fan (entry level), big acoustic difference!
Easy to assemble, just needs the rubber fixings to make it perfect (supplied with 4 screws only)
LDLC: Pro and fast as can be.

    Rather disappointed

I bought this fan to replace the one on a Synology DS216play. I wanted to make it as quiet as possible. The noise is very slight, but being close to me, it is still a bit noticeable.
I'm disappointed that I don't notice any difference with this Noctua, despite all the praise I've read about it.

Good product, just one thing missing

Very good product, excellent value for money.

Just one thing missing: this fan is sold as a tower fan, but it fits very well on a CPU heatsink. I think it's a shame that the only fastening systems supplied are rubber pads that can only be used on towers. Good old-fashioned screws and bolts would be nice in the package...
