This CD/DVD reader/burner works very well and does what it is supposed to do. The only thing is to plug it directly into the USB ports (therefore at the back of your PC (tower)), on your motherboard, because otherwise it will not be powerful enough when using extension cables for it to work properly. This is not its fault, as it is simply a matter of power distribution. But apart from that, an excellent CD/DVD reader/burner.
Perfect for purely functional use, but seems fragile. Doesn't read blu-ray discs, but has excellent playback of damaged DVDs and CDs, even heavily scratched ones. Quite noisy depending on the surface.
At the time of my purchase, I had explained that it is a CD player for my HI-FI system. I was guaranteed that YES. When I got home I connected the CD player to the USB socket of my HI-FI system, playback impossible, whereas I can play, from this same socket, CDs recorded on a USB key. When I collected my order from this store I clearly insisted on this functionality (connection to my system. I was sold a device that does not work. I will never sell again with you.

I had bought this drive to be able to rip my CDs either to a network player (Melco) or to a MAC to store the file on a NAS.
With DbPowerAmp on MAC, the audio disc is recognized but it is impossible to rip the CD because each track read is immediately considered an error. Apparently, this drive is known to have problems on MAC according to the creators of DBPowerAmp.
With the Melco network player, no problem ripping the CD via a USB connection.

The reader-writer is of very good quality and reliable. However, it has a flaw that is found all too often: the connection cable is far too short.

I bought this drive on the advice of the local LDLC Cormontreuil team and I am completely satisfied with it.
No particular problem with this drive under Linux Mint (ubuntu), in 99% of cases. It is only used for reading and not as a burner.
Problem when copying (transferring to dd) large files (1.5GB), solved if I reset the drive (take out the dvd, unplug, replug, restart the copy). Is this a memory problem, a cash problem, a software problem, I don't know.
Very simple, just plug it in and it works. I use it to read medical images, but it can be a bit slow when there are a lot of images to read and you need to switch between the different images quickly (for reading MRIs).
But it gets the job done, without being too noisy.

Having changed PCs following the switch to Windows 11, my new PC didn't have a CD drive, which meant I couldn't load programs that I had on CD.
I am fully satisfied with the operation of this external drive, with just 2 reservations:
. It's connected in USB C and comes with a USB C cable on one end, USB A 3.0 male on the other, and a USB A 3.0 female to USB C adapter. It works correctly if I connect it to the PC using USB A 3.0, but not if I connect it to USB C using the adapter. I had to buy an all USB C 240W cable to connect it to USB C on the PC.
. My second reservation is that VLC is not compatible with this player. I discovered afterwards that this problem is known to Verbatim, and that for the moment no correction has been proposed.

The player/writer stalls and does not read CDs on vlc or windows media player, I have not tried DVDs.
Nothing to complain about with this product.

An almost perfect product! This external cd/dvd burner has everything I need: it's light, fast and efficient. The only small fault (as far as I'm concerned) is that the usb-c cable is a bit short. Nothing to worry about, I bought another one a metre long to put next to my tower.
I received the recorder in good condition and it works well. It's no noisier than other burners. It seems much more solid than the Samsung burners I've had before, which had a lifespan of a year.
So it remains to be seen in the long term whether it's worth the extra ten euros or so.

A very good multi-media burner, supplied with an application for burning. It's really very thin and is immediately recognised by the system (Win 11).
This player does its job very well. It's not too noisy and doesn't vibrate too much. I tested it on Debian stable/xfce, no problems and nothing to install for it to read old CD-ROMs.
I haven't tested the burning function.

The CD drive works perfectly. But the software disc only contains trial versions that are rapidly out of date.
I've tested the Verbatim CD/DVD burner/player to play my CDs and transfer tracks to my Mac, and it works perfectly.
I was very well advised in shop, so I ordered the Verbatim CD burner on the LDLC site.
It was very easy to order and the presentation and explanations were very clear and ... full of humour!
