Hello to all,
I put 3 stars because it's not the first time I order one of these Barrow wb, they do their job but don't ask more.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use a soldering iron to connect the rgb to a motherboard, but I'm sure it's a good idea to use a soldering iron to make an ARGB connection (the 3 pins are written on the led strip).
On the other hand, the rgb system is relatively fragile, if the block exceeds 70°C, quickly the leds will stop working. it happened to me on two blocks.
So, for those who like to play around with it or "well, it worked with the light for a while", I'd rather order a 30€ WB, RGB or not, on LDLC and have it delivered in 2/3 days than in China, where it's a lottery ....
Let's be clear, I stand by what I said in my previous review, it's still a good waterblock, with an unbeatable quality/price ratio... But then, after a few weeks, my LEDs also ended up thinking they were in a disco while I was trying something (more) sober... Too bad :/ I'm going to leave it as is, it doesn't harm the operation, and I don't want to purge my watercooling, nor do I want to tinker with a hybrid loop using AMD's fanrad, which might be a bit light for my R9 3900 :/
So I'll start with a useful clarification, delivered as is, don't rely on the LED lighting of the waterblock, it's a non-standard aRGB connector that the manufacturer has adopted. Adapters exist. Another solution if you have this at hand, because you have been playing with an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi is to use Dupont male-female cables to plug the connector into a standard aRGB socket on your motherboard and voila! Everything works perfectly and the light will be ! Well, I admit that for aesthetic reasons, and because "it doesn't fit very well" during the installation, I would have liked an adapter that fits well in the box!
Besides that, the finish and performance are good, probably not the best on the market, but at 32€ you get a waterblock that allows you to efficiently cool a Ryzen 9 3900 overclocked generously by the "Gaming Mode" of my MSI motherboard in my case, while remaining perfectly within the operating temperatures recommended by AMD! However, I used a leftover Kryonaut thermal paste, so I couldn't say anything about the one supplied with the waterblock, which I don't really trust.
good product from barrow, the cpu waterblock does the job very well (does not exceed 69 degrees on OCCT 1h, gaming: BF1 ULTRA does not exceed 60°C, modern warfare MAX SETTINGS does not exceed 53°C).
I'm not sure about the screws and springs: the threads on the screws that hold the backplate and the waterblock are of poor quality and don't go far enough in the backplate delivered with the motherboard (B450 TOMAHAWK MAX). Basically the screws don't go far enough into the black plate to exert adequate pressure on the CPU; and the cpu ends up heating up after a few days (55°C in idle).
You'll have to buy an AM4 screw kit elsewhere + AM4 backplate (I bought it on EKWB website for less than 15 euros). Once it's done, the contact between the backplate and the waterblock is fine; the product does the job very well!
you should also use a good thermal paste (especially for the 3000 series) like thermal grizzly for example. do not use barrow's thermal paste !
The Barrow brand unbeatable quality, price, sturdiness, size, RGB when buying the Barrow DK201 it rocks!

Having scrapped my old 1090T to upgrade to Ryzen, I was forced to put aside my AM2/AM3 waterblock.
No worries for the assembly.
It screws directly onto the original backplate, in the same way as the Wraith Spire ventirad supplied with the Ryzen.
The temperature level is much better than the Ryzen.
The sensors of the processor do not indicate above 50 degrees under load (good surface of radiators... with the old WB on the overclocked Phenom and the 680 in the circuit, except for the heat wave, nothing ever exceeded 60) despite the removal of one of the two pumps of my circuit.
On the finish side, no defects.
The thing having little interest, I did not try the RGB backlight.
For a long time I was used to the "big" brands of watercooling with their sometimes exorbitant prices, I decided with my new Ryzen configuration to try this small brand which was unknown to me until now. This waterblock is worthy of the big ones, a top finish equivalent to EK for example for 2 or 3 times less expensive depending on the model.
