When you're on set, you can't afford to go home with saturated or weak sound. The M4 records in 32-bit floating point, giving you perfect sound in any situation without having to adjust the gain.
Filmmakers can use the two XLR inputs for dialogue while recording ambience with the X/Y mics. In post-production, your recordings can easily be synchronized with the video, thanks to the M4's built-in time code generator.
Combine the audio signal captured by the built-in X/Y microphones with that of two additional external microphones to give your videos studio-quality sound in any environment.

The M4 has been designed to be the quietest portable recorder available. Its unique X/Y pickups and glossy finish dramatically reduce handling noise, ensuring crisp, clear sound every time.
Keep an eye on all four tracks of your recording with the real-time waveform display on the M4's colour LCD screen. Save time in post-production by using the built-in NORMALIZE function to automatically increase or decrease the volume of your recording to the optimum level without compressing the sound.
Serious videographers use timecode to ensure that audio and video are perfectly synchronized. The M4's built-in time code generator is professionally accurate to 0.2 ppm.

The M4 has two XLR/TRS inputs with the same low-noise, professional-grade preamps found in our flagship F-Series recorders.
Connect the line output to your camera to record a backup or sync track to your video. Monitor your recording with the built-in headphone output. Use the headphone output to monitor your recording or the built-in speaker for quick monitoring.
The PRERECORD function captures and records the six seconds of sound before the record button is pressed - perfect for recording on the fly.
