Overall, the G512 Carbon keyboard is pleasant to use, but the lack of instructions on the functions is a real shame given the price... each time you restart your PC you have to re-set your colouring profile and the "ver. num" key is not indicated if it is activated or not.... Nothing serious in itself, but for 120 € the keyboard....
I had a very old membrane keyboard that was losing its inscriptions and I wanted to take the step to a mechanical keyboard. And I was particularly disappointed with this Logitech.
- The keystroke is far too long, it looks like an old cash register keyboard from the 80s.
- Abominable typing noise. The switch itself is silent. But when the key hits the stop, it makes an unpleasant hard and hollow plastic noise. Impossible to use this keyboard in a place that requires some silence and concentration. You may not go all the way to the stop, as the actuation stroke is quite short, but you have no sensory feedback as to whether the key has been pressed or not.
- The total stroke is very long and the actuation stroke is quite short, so if you are not very precise in your typing and you press the next key a little, you spend your time correcting typing errors.
- The backlighting is only on the upper part of the key. So if you're in a dark place, you can't see the lower inscriptions. Oh, and they've reversed the usual up/down direction of the inscriptions, which takes some getting used to with the less used keys.
- The diode on the numeric keypad is simply missing. This means that there are no mistakes when you type in a password blindly using the numeric keypad.
- The multimedia keys in combination with an Fn key are fine on a laptop keyboard when there's not enough space, but this is a €100 desktop keyboard. It's not the first price, they clearly could have made an effort.
- It's not the first price, they clearly could have made a better effort, and there's a USB plug on the back of the keyboard. But to use it, you have to connect the keyboard to 2 USB sockets on the back of the tower.
Finally, after a month of straining, I gave up and bought a Cherry Stream for 35€, a thousand times more practical, pleasant and silent.
I took this keyboard because I had a problem with my old one, it is pleasant and works very well, it reminds me of my beginnings in computing with the want keyboard, it needs the same noise as that of the time.
Comfortable to use for both gaming and office use, but with the backlight on (the keys are almost unreadable when they are off). I was looking for a compact gaming keyboard and I am not disappointed with the G512.
The keyboard is very good and very solid with very quiet keys and a very good pressure. The only problem is that there is a big problem with the . 1 10 . Then the " , !" keys. The engraving is reversed vertically so that the numbers do not light up and the engraving "1" is below the engraving ".
