The product has been reshipped, unluckily my laptop died the day I received it so there is no point in me having another screen, maybe I should order one.
The biggest flaw is the price and a few small flaws that hurt a bit when you see the price of 500e.
The 240 Hz is only useful for rare occasions, a 144 HZ would have been more than enough.
Good screen quality and really small and portable.
But has a display defect in the centre after a few weeks of use
I bought this monitor, which I've been meaning to pick up since it was announced in 2019, to complete my mini-ITX setup in a Dan Cases A4-SFX. The aim was to see if I could replace my gamer laptop and my big tower with one much cheaper machine. This monitor was the missing piece, and I was worried that it wouldn't be up to scratch.
But no, it's amazing! I use it either on our family sofa to play or on holiday to play in the evening. The cover that comes with it allows it to be held in landscape position and is stable enough to be used on your lap.
The whole configuration weighs about 6kg, which is a bit more than an Alienware 51M with its charger, but it's still OK for my use. No more gamer laptop that heats up and makes as much noise as a hairdryer. Hello to the mini PC that stays on the floor and just a screen on your lap.
The integrated battery lasts for 2 hours without limiting the brightness or frequency.
The responsiveness is excellent, the colours are really nice and the viewing angles are good.
The only thing the screen lacks is the quality of black reproduction. The contrast ratio must not exceed 900 on my copy. This is not horrible, but being used to the PG297Q and my macbook with their 1200+ contrasts, I can see it and it causes the screen to lose one star.
The second star is lost because of the lack of automatic switching on when a source is connected. It sometimes takes me a while to start it up, and the OSD ergonomics are not the best from Asus.
Conclusion: I'm replacing my gamer laptop with this screen and my Dan Cases. Thank you Asus and let's hope that other manufacturers will follow suit.
The screen is not bad but the asus application to automatically switch the screen from landscape to portrait does not work under windows 10, the display widget does not work, while in their marketing arguments it is clearly indicated that the screen has this function ... it's a pity for those who make development and especially at the PRICE of this 17" monitor
Top top, especially with the battery. Also works well with the smartphone in USB-C.
Works well with my Asus ROG Laptop and my PS4. I highly recommend it!
Even the Smart Case system that I've seen criticized by English testers works great for me. Then this 240Hz, nothing to say.

The XG17 offers a great second screen experience that moves easily without compromising colour or speed, plugged into my gamer laptop in HDMI 2.0 I was able to test Rainbox six seat and clearly it does the taffe better than my gamer laptop screen ( 144hz ).
