Rugged mini is LaCie's all-terrain compact hard drive, built to last! With maximum reliability, it protects your data from external aggression and accompanies you easily on every trip thanks to its compact and robust design. You also benefit from the speed of USB 3.0 for your data transfers.
With its iconic orange design and shock-resistant enclosure, the Rugged is a popular drive. For the Rugged Mini, the Rugged has been scaled down and a host of new features have been added, making it a safe solution for carrying your data on the go.
The LaCie Rugged Mini is shock resistant, drop resistant, and has a rubber sleeve for extra protection. It is also rain and pressure resistant. Thanks to its small size, you can take it anywhere you go!
With the Rugged Mini, you get the speed of USB 3.0 combined with full backwards compatibility with USB 2.0, which means you can use it with almost any computer. You can transfer a 700MB video file in less than 7 seconds with USB 3.0 compared to 25 seconds with USB 2.0.
Plus, you can use LaCie's USB 3.0 Driver for Mac to improve data transfer speed on Macs (up to 30% more performance than FireWire 800).

In use, I can truly say that I made a good purchase there. I use it every week to make my backups.
HDD perfectly in line with my expectations. The protection is well designed and seems very effective. The drive is formatted
Ex Fat at the factory, I formatted it in NTFS to comply with my TV box. See you in a few years for reliability...
Product as advertised.
Writing speed equal to that advertised.
The silicone cover does a good job of protecting the hard drive.
Delivery poorly synchronised between the shipping and delivery agency, but product received in a few days and in a well-protected parcel.
Would recommend.
Superb finish, quick to install and get to grips with.
However, LaCie's backup software is limited; I use EaseUS Todo Backup Home for much more secure incremental backups.
This LaCie external drive will be used for my one-off, daily back-ups for TIME MACHINE on MacBook AIR. 2Tb are enough for me as this MacBook Air is not my main computer...
