Following on from the Japanese manufacturer's first lens in the Sony FE mount, the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD lens offers an excellent balance with full-frame Sony hybrid cameras. Versatile, bright and compact, it has all the elements to join your camera equipment. This new lens also has the advantage of being the lightest in its class, weighing just 420g. Thef/2.8 aperture is combined with a high-performance RXD autofocus system to provide a better photographic experience. This tropicalized lens also offers additional protection when shooting outdoors in inclement weather.
Complementing the 28-75mm f/2.8
Launched a year after its predecessor, the 17-28mm f/2.8 III RXD shares the same ergonomic and technological features, but has been designed with high optical performance as a top priority in a lightweight, compact package. It retains the same filter size as its big brother, allowing the same cap and filters to be used.
Its unrivalled size (99mm) for a focal length range of 17-28mm offers excellent mobility and will be a lightweight solution to accompany a Sony hybrid. It is definitely the ultimatecompact ultra wide angle lens perfectly calibrated for a Sony FE mount.
Superb optical performance
Equipped with Tamron's Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive (RXD) technology, the A046 provides fast, accurate and quiet autofocus, even in a wide-aperture lens, which is typically larger and heavier. It will prove very capable for landscape, reportage, wide or detail portrait photography as well as for video shooting.
It also stands out for its minimum focusing distance, which allows you to take close-up photos while maintaining a wide field of view. At 28mm, you can also achieve a nice effect on background blur.
All-weather construction
Once in your hand, you'll notice that the design of this lens has a quality feel. Attached to your camera body, it can be used in any weather. It features 7 seals in the lens mounting area and other areas to prevent moisture and dripping.
For shooting in uncertain environments, you'll appreciate the fluorine-based coating on the front lens. Not only is it easier to wipe off, it's also less vulnerable to dirt, dust, moisture or fingerprints.
