I don't claim to know much about the world of images and colours, but I do know how to recognise a quality product, and this screen is one of them.
I've had it for over two years now, and it's comfortable, bright and sharp enough for me, with no problems to complain about.
Whether it's videos, text, games or anything else, the rendering, sharpness and responsiveness remain excellent.
Good product, I recommend it.
I'm switching from a curved ROG (VA panel) to this one because VA panels have too much vertical latency, which causes ghosting (or "blooming"), an image that takes too long to disappear during sharp movements, thus blurring and dragging colours, very unpleasant for playing FPS that require great precision.
First observation: IPS panels have made immense progress, the performance is there. No blooming, beautiful colours, excellent contrast. It was however more difficult for me to calibrate the colours correctly unlike the ROG which was almost plug & play. (screen: brightness 100; contrast 80; red 100, green 100, blue 100 /// nvidia: brightness 55; contrast 45; gamma 1.05; digital glare: 75)
The screen is well built, on par with the ROG
For me its two flaws are:
- Not height adjustable, this should be a standard for any gaming screen. However, the height is still good if placed on a standard height desk (130cm). In the worst case you can always use a VESA mount, for an extra fee.
- 170hz is useless because the image jitters after only 2 minutes. What is the point of giving a 170hz screen if it just doesn't work? 165hz works perfectly, it would have been better to give the screen directly at 165hz instead of giving a dubious marketing argument. For that I take one star off.
Conclusion: Curved is ergonomically great, but I don't regret going back to flat for better display performance. I never really paid attention to the TUF range from Asus but it's a great discovery as it proves to be a great value for money, certainly lacking the superficiality that the ROG range can bring but also well finished and irreproachable without asking for such an indecent price.
I had a combo of 1x 27" ASUS PG278QR with 2x 22" of different brand. I couldn't have the benefit of the surround; by replacing the two 22" by these 2xVG27AQ1A it's done and moreover I find them more performing than the PG278QR for much less money because better luminosity and practically no ghoosting. No dead pixels. I've been using them for a while now, but I'm not sure if they're good enough for me or not, so I'm going to have to go back and get them. Thanks to the LDLC team
Received in perfect condition, with all the elements of my configuration.
The screen is bright and of good quality (note that it does not adjust in height, but on my desk it was not necessary).
Gsync and HDR work very well in games.
It's an IPS panel, so there's a bit of the inevitable IPS glow, but ten centimetres on one edge is fine, especially as it only shows up on an ultra-dark image, like the tunnel in Cry of Fear (but I'm too busy shooting zombies to let that bother me).
I had taken the dead pixel guarantee but all the ones on my slab are in great shape so all the better. I recommend it.
I had first ordered a M27Q from gigabyte, which had IPS Glowing important, dead pixels out of the box ...
I sent it back to get this Asus screen, none of the above defects found, very nice colours.
The only thing missing is a height adjustable stand, but with the possibility of putting it on an articulated stand, it's really great (a model with this screen exists with the adjustable stand but 100€ more expensive at the time of purchase)
I've been using it for a month now, no worries.
To note:
It has built-in speakers (I don't use them much), which are of very low power and quality. It helps but don't expect to play games or listen to music with the sound of the screen.

For IPS it's still better than an LG bought before, same type of panel and almost same configuration. Good screen for a gamer curious about genres and the OSD is pleasant, even if some functions with convoluted names force you to quickly consult the support page on the manufacturer's website. It's very pleasant when perfectly centered in front of the screen, as soon as you move too much you get washed out blacks and yellows oozing out of the dall, so co-op gaming is not really possible except at a very good distance, but then the screen loses its interest.
The screen is only recognised as g-sync compatible when connected via displayport (the only cable supplied in addition to the power supply) when I try hdmi even with a cable supporting 2.0 the screen is no longer recognised as g-sync but with a basic variable refresh rate, whereas the same port and the same connection on my pc recognises my cintiq pro as g-sync compatible in 4k, so it depends on your hardware.
However, the fact that you can't adjust the height of the stand (it's indicated before you buy it, not a complaint against the device) is something you notice when you have to adjust the height of your desk or your chair.
In the end it's a bit expensive but the screen options and the possible combinations and settings with your graphics card manager are worth it, a bit of a headache as some options are incompatible even though by name and description they seem to be made for each other, but the OSD will automatically block some options depending on your choices.
Good gaming screen and a pretty capable second monitor.
The last point is that even though it is relatively quiet, the back of the screen dissipates heat, so it may not be ideal to put it against a wall, which is necessary for it to "breathe".
I'm satisfied, and LDLC is still a good reference and a continuous quality service.
