Really good

Following a purchase of Focal XS which gave me a sound much too neutral/aigue for my taste, I turned to the S350db following the advice of LDLC and I am not disappointed. The kit is really good, the reproduction excellent for the price. Sometimes I even have the impression that the sound comes from elsewhere than the speakers! The medium and bass levels are perfect, neither too much nor too little and anyway the knob allows an adjustment if needed. The different modes and connections available are really perfect, in short I do not regret this purchase at all. The only drawback is that it is not possible to protect the speakers with a magnetic grille.

Very disappointed. Starts whistling after a few minutes. I have to turn it off and wait for it to cool down. Searching for "Edifier S350DB whining" on the internet, others have the same problem on the RCA, optical and bluetooth inputs, but not on the coax. The only one I don't have!!! So I ordered an ASUS Xonar U5 card (the only one on LDLC with a coax output). Received it this morning and everything has been working for over 2 hours. So far so good. For the other modes (including bluetooth with the phone), it's dead. But at least I can use it with my main source.

        After 6 months of use my conclusions are the following:
        - in 90% of the cases the bluetooth is enough to have a sound of a very good level the addition of a dac does not bring anything except for the HD sources.
        - This kit pulls its pin from the game when it is a question of restoring the voice, the guitar or another stringed instrument (if you seek the boom boom/embarrass the neighbors/shake the walls pass your way, it can but it is not made for that).

        Great sound!

        I have been using Edifier RT1700BT speakers on my desk for a few years now, which I really like. I changed for this S350DB kit in 2.1 in order to have more bass because I listen to a lot of metal (but also jazz, blues, etc.), and to have the possibility to connect more sources. Very happy with the result. The sound image is a little less airy than on the RT1700BT, but the gain in low frequencies prevails in my case. The subwoofer, well positioned and adjusted (using the potentiometer), delivers nice, non-dripping bass, and I didn't notice any audible cut-off between the subwoofer and the satellites. I have connected my computer+dac, a CD player (coaxial) and a pre-amplified turntable to this kit. I do not use Bluetooth. On the negative side, the general finishing is less neat than on the RT1700BT, but correct. I have however a problem with the foam surrounding one of the tweeters (not great for new)! Also, a more annoying problem for me was the smell of new (glue? paint? plastic?) which gave me a headache for a few days, but is slowly dissipating. Other than that, sound-wise, it's good stuff and great value for money.
