As good as ever
Installed four years ago in an office configuration, it is still just as fast. It's like night and day when you're coming from an HDD!
The Samsung 980 500GB SSD is a great way to boost your machine's performance and responsiveness. With high transfer speeds and excellent endurance, the Samsung 980 in M.2 2280 format is based on the PCI-E 3.0 x4 interface and NVMe technology. It is also equipped with a Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC memory and a Samsung Pablo controller.
The Samsung 980 M.2 PCIe 3.0 4x NVMe is ideal for users looking for a high-performance PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD. Its high performance speeds for heavy-duty gaming, computer graphics, data analysis, and more allow you to rediscover smoothness and responsiveness in all tasks.

Take your equipment to the next level with the power of the Samsung 980 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD. The 980 takes the PCIe 3.0 interface to the limit. The 980 has been optimised for speed with the Samsung Pablo controller, which has been specifically designed for this SSD.
SSDs that deliver high performance require extremely precise thermal control. To ensure the most stable performance, the 980 features a nickel-protected controller to keep it at a stable temperature, and a heatsink that will protect the NAND chip from temperature fluctuations.
Samsung has equipped the 980 with a state-of-the-art algorithm so that the SSD itself can manage its temperature peaks and therefore ensure stable performance. To minimise long-term speed variations, Samsung's Dynamic Thermal Guard technology keeps the temperature of the 980 at an optimal level.

Access the true power of the 980 with Samsung Magician software and its intuitive tools: monitor the status of the drive, optimise its performance, protect your important data, and receive all the updates to ensure you always get the best possible performance from your SSD.

Installed four years ago in an office configuration, it is still just as fast. It's like night and day when you're coming from an HDD!
A very good NVMe PCIe 3 SSD.
Does not overheat (used under the motherboard's heat shield), decent boot times under Windows 10 and no issues in three years. A small plus point for Samsung's Magician software.
I now use it as an external SSD drive. Everything is working fine. Just a few more characters.
bought in 2022, used to update a PC from 2019, it still runs like a charm and I don't see it weakening.
Super hard drive, reliable and fast. Great value for money!
Don't hesitate for your operating systems
I launch my OS in a very short time, the loads are short in game. I'd have liked to know if the stickers on it need to be removed, but a google search told me that no, they're part of the thermal distribution :)
Top notch. Great customer service. They were responsive and professional in dealing quickly with an address error on my part.
Confirms my expectations, I've had it mounted in a heatsink close to the graphics card for a month now and no problems whatsoever
Easy installation, improved Windows start-up and some software like Readiris PDF 23 loads faster. I'll probably take a second one of one TB for the Datas.
Installed as the main SSD for Windows 11 and my software, this Samsung 980 does exactly what you'd expect from a good NVMe: ultra-short boot times, applications that launch instantly, and excellent overall system responsiveness.
Even though it doesn't have dedicated DRAM, the HMB technology works well. Performance remains stable under normal use (office, gaming, multitasking). Temperatures under control, worry-free installation on a B550 motherboard.
An excellent choice for a high-performance PC, without breaking the bank with PCIe 4.0, which is useless in most cases.
