I have always preferred hard mouse pads to soft ones, as I find them more accurate in game play and this one is very good. The only drawback is that it can slip a little when you make very abrupt movements.
I do photo editing and a little bit of CAD, in these uses my mouse moves all the time. I wanted a thin, rigid mat with good glide, so I went for a so-called gamer model. This mat suits me perfectly, it's big enough for me and doesn't move around on the desk.
