short life span
Very good service from LDLC.com.
September 2018: I just installed this printer which has a quite nice design and seems sturdy enough for the intended use. If I only put 3 stars, it's because the printer is supposed to print up to a resolution of 600x1200 (it's starting to get nice for photos), yet the Windows driver only allows resolutions of 300x300 and 600x600, as for the Linux driver, it only allows a resolution of 600x600 (so not really possible to save ink).
Secondly, unlike many brands (Epson or Ricoh to name a few that I have used) there is no way to replace the ink collector (usually a tray containing a foam to collect the ink used to clean the print heads for example). Either Canon has found a solution to avoid the use of an ink collector and I congratulate them for an inkjet printer, or I'm good to go and replace this printer in three years time max. I'll try to remember my comment at that time.
EDIT: January 2020 I had originally put three stars, but I'm switching to one, as the printer lasted less than a year (it gave out around March 2019). I didn't want to claim on the warranty, as it was using more ink than I thought anyway. I switched to a Samsung laser which cost me more up front, but shows no signs of weakness after several months and has a much lower cost per page.
