The reception of the 2 HDs was nominal; the products corresponded completely to my order.
After 6 months no disk partition, all data lost. 6 months later same disaster.
Unreliable and not to be recommended --> no support from Western Digital
Fast, compliant and well-prepared delivery. The material is without surprises: immediate installation and trouble-free implementation.
Very disappointed, the camera is not even a year old and already it doesn't work! I had all my photos in it (I'm an amateur photographer), all the ones I had been able to recover from the previous hard drive that had failed me. I had among other things the photos that I had to develop for an exhibition + those of birth photos.
I am green!
What to do?
I have other Western Digital external hard drives (from this same My Book series, or from the Elements series), and also internal ones, and I have never had a problem with this brand.
4 TB is comfortable! When you think that for the same price, not so long ago, you had 400 GB!
I don't use the backup package provided. I prefer the excellent SyncBackFree.
I have been using it for almost 2 months and it runs flawlessly for a weekly backup under Windows.
Note that there is a USB 3 cable provided with it, and that Acronis True Image does not manage the full backup every x increments, so you have to reset the My Book before this one....
I'm lucky, it comes with a power supply.
No luck, it comes without a USB cable, like a car without wheels...
Wouldn't it be nice if it was mentioned in the product description?
So, it won't be installed tonight and the urgent data recovery from a clapped-out Seagate will have to wait.
Very fast drive on USB 3 and impressive backup volume. I recommend it. (Just to complete my comment to have 100 characters)
I've been a computer scientist and developer for a few years now, and I swear by Western Digital for all my storage needs (USB stick, internal HDD, external HDD...) and I'm still not disappointed: the hardware is robust and reliable. This hard drive is very easy to install, recognized immediately by Windows, WD true to itself! Brand to recommend!
