no need to activate bluetooth to make the smarttag ring. it's positioned via the network of all samsung smartphones passing nearby (and visible on a google earth-type map). when you're close (between 100m and 5m) the indications are limited but at less than 5 it's very precise. and the smarttag's ringtone is clearly audible.
the ability to make the smartphone ring is also very practical
