12-volt socket available
Very good device, which does exactly what it's supposed to do. It's not specified on the website (a photo of the back of the large SATA plug should be added to the product description, as in my attached example), but there is indeed a 12-volt plug. This allows you to connect a 220/12-volt transformer (the conversion to a 5-volt auxiliary power supply must be done internally within the connector, using passive components, as a conventional hard drive requires 5 and 12 volts). Make sure you use a transformer with sufficient amperage (0.5 or even 1 A) to provide enough power to start up large 3.5-inch hard drives at 7200 rpm or more and to prevent overheating during prolonged use.
