Quiet box fan 140mm

Overview
Exceptionally quiet!

The NF-A14 is a quiet Noctua fan in 140mm format with a square frame that meets Noctua's AAO(Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard. Its square shape and 140mm mounting holes(124.5mm spacing) make it the ideal companion for watercooling radiators or 140mm fan cases.

Featuring the latest in aerodynamic technology, including Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 takes the cooling performance for which the NF-P14 is renowned to a new level.

The ULN version allows extremely low speeds(800/650rpm) for applications requiring near-inaudible operation or for noise-sensitive users requiring quiet operation. Its amazing discretion, the presence of SSO2 reference bearings and the quality level guaranteed by Noctua make the NF-A14 the ideal fan for the most demanding users.

Successor to the famous NF-P14
Noctua's NF-P14 fan has become the benchmark in the PC world. Thanks to numerous successive aerodynamic optimisations, the NF-A14 now offers increased static pressure and an even better airflow/noise ratio than its predecessor.
140mm square frame
The NF-A14's 140mm square frame has 140mm mounting holes(124.5mm spacing), making it ideal for use with conventional 140mm enclosures or watercooling fans.
Flow Acceleration Channels
The NF-A14 impeller is fitted with flow channels on the suction side of the fan. The flow acceleration generated at the tips of the blades creates a more massive, less dispersed suction, thus increasing efficiency.
AAO frame
Noctua's AAO(Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames are equipped with anti-vibration mounts and benefit from exclusive optimisations to push the limits of performance and silence.
Stepped Inlet Design
Noctua's Stepped Inlet design adds turbulence to the inlet flow, allowing a gradual transition from laminar to turbulent flow. This reduces noise emissions, generates a more massive flow and increases suction power.
Inner Surface Microstructures
As the blade tips move in a boundary layer influenced by the presence of an Inner Surface Microstructure, the flow separation that takes place at the suction level becomes almost non-existent.
Integrated anti-vibration dampers
The integrated anti-vibration mounts, made of extra soft silicone, limit the transmission of vibrations while ensuring perfect compatibility with standard fastening systems.
SSO2 Bearing
This is the latest generation of the SSO2 bearing, which is even more optimised. The SSO2 is equipped with a rear magnet closer to the axle for greater precision, durability and stability.
Metal bearings
In order to ensure the highest quality of workmanship, durability and stability, the NF-A14 is equipped with a CNC machined brass bearing.
Smooth Commutation Drive 2
Noctua's latest SCD system ensures smooth operation by eliminating torque variations and switching noise. As a result, the NF-A4x10 remains very quiet even at close range.
2-speed control for maximum silence
The ULN(Ultra-Low-Noise) version has been specially designed for extremely low operating speeds and minimal noise levels, and can be set to 800 or 650rpm using the supplied adapter.
Extensive wiring options
The first fan cable is 20cm short, minimising the space required for routine use. The supplied 30cm extension cable will solve any distance problems.
Ultra-low power consumption
The NF-A14 consumes only 0.96W, which represents a reduction in consumption of more than 20% compared to the previous model. Beyond the ecological interest, the impact is also real on your electricity bill!
6-year manufacturer's warranty
Noctua fans have an established reputation for quality and durability. As with all Noctua models, the NF-A14 has an MTBF of over 150,000 hours of testing and is backed by a full 6 year manufacturer's warranty.

    Very good fan

I ordered this fan to replace a faulty Fractal Design Silent Series R3 140mm fan on the Fractal Design Core 500 case.

The result is almost what I expected (I'm a real noise freak): I'd like to say it's inaudible, but you can still hear it a little bit from less than a meter away. The reason is: this fan can run at 33% of its rated voltage (and it's inaudible to me), but it can only start at 55% of its rated voltage. And as my GA-H170N-WIFI motherboard doesn't start the fans at 100% before slowing them down to the programmed speed, I was forced to set them at 55%. Too bad :-)

I still give 5 stars because they are very very quiet at 55% (a little less than with the LNA I would say).
On the other hand, at 100% it's no use dreaming: they make noise.

    What silence!

A cathedral silence! Honestly, with your ear at 10 cm from the fan, not a sound!
The accessories are numerous (a cable to reduce the rotation speed, a cable to connect it directly to a molex plug of the power supply, and an extension cord).
    Two small negative points however:
    - a price a little too high
    - and a bit of a headache to assemble (you have to put plastic things in the holes and press hard so that it goes in...).

    Very quiet

Provided the necessary ventilation in my case to replace the original ones in my cooler mastercase pro 5 case.
Once started you don't even know if they are active or not as the case is silent
