For a VGA coupler, at my level on a laptop docking station, I prefer to break the coupler's connector than the original one, I also use it as an extension for a VGA cable, but it's still a bit of a hobby.
Otherwise, it allows me to modify and adapt the connectivity on a KVM set!
Not much to say about simple VGA couplers.
But what for? I made a "dummy connector" or a "fake VGA", with 3 resistors of 75 ohms, plugged in the holes on the female side of the VGA coupler.
Useful to boot an Intel NUC in server mode (without screen). This NUC refuses to boot if it does not detect a screen!
