The advent of Blu-ray technology has led to the introduction of high capacity storage discs to meet the demand created by the rapid growth of High Definition Television (HDTV). With a capacity of 50GB the Verbatim BD-R DL will allow you to back up large amounts of data.

Blu-ray Discs offer 3-5 times the storage capacity of a standard recordable DVD and allow recording, rewriting and playback of high definition (HD) video content. For use only in players or recorders that support 25GB/50GB Blu-ray Discs without a cartridge.

Blu-ray discs get their name from blue laser technology. The blue colour is due to the shorter wavelength of the laser. The blue laser uses a wavelength of 405 nm, while the red laser technology for DVDs uses a wavelength of 650 nm. Using a blue laser with a shorter wavelength allows you to write smaller data pits and thus greatly increase the amount of data on the disc. Non-printable discs can be written to with a CD/DVD marker.

In the buff

Nothing to complain about. Verbatim quality, as usual.
I have not tested them at full speed but I have absolutely nothing to reproach these Blu-Ray discs.
It remains to be seen how well they are preserved ;)
