The device works very well under Linux, which treats it as a webcam. I use it with VLC to digitise old video cassettes.
All you need to do is connect the Avermedia to the video recorder using a Peritel/RCA adapter (LDLC doesn't seem to sell them, but I found one at the supermarket). In VLC, go to the "Media ? Convert/Record" menu, then the "Capture device" tab. Choose the 'Video Camera' capture mode, select the video device corresponding to the Avermedia (only one device will appear in the list, unless you've also connected a webcam) and select the 'Secam' standard. Finally, click on the "Convert / Save" button, choose the name of the file to be created and click on the "Start" button. All that's left to do is press the 'Play' button on the VCR.
It's very simple, but digitisation obviously takes time because the computer records the video signal from the VCR as it goes along: you can't speed things up. The digitisation quality is completely faithful to the video tape.
Very pleased with this product. Works very well on windows 10 home.

The delivery was as usual in good conditions. I would have liked to have had other delivery options (via other providers etc.).
I ordered it because it was advertised as Linux compatible. No worries, it's as expected. No installation necessary, it is functional as soon as it is plugged in.
Contrary to most of the other reviews, in my house this card does not work. I have 2 fully functional VCRs but neither is recognised by the (very poor) software. I have made a number of different attempts without success.
The USB hardware is OK, easy to install ... The DVD with the drivers and the software, it's the kind you don't really know where it comes from, but it does the job ... This accessory is not seen by windows as a simple video acquisition device, so after installing the driver, you have to use the software provided with the product to use it.
Moreover, the software is protected by a key which is written directly on the DVD (do not lose the DVD or take care to note the key for future installations) ...
Overall, it's not too bad ... but I would have preferred that it was a video device, and that I could use my classic tools rather than their softs which are not at all extraordinary.

Just take the time to familiarise yourself with this software (easy) and to do a test to configure the TELEVISUAL STANDARD to have a correct image. For my part, it is PAL B. Conclusive test. Investment amortized in the space of 5 cassettes approximately, according to the price of the professionals.

Software and hardware work well under Windows10.
The settings require some knowledge of video standards, particularly with regard to analogue. However, the software is quite intuitive to use.
I only use the software to capture rushes that I then recover with the Adobe video editing solution. So I can't comment on all the features of EZMaker 7
Overall I have what I was looking for. No problem for me. My job as a computer scientist perhaps contributes a little to this.
It is necessary to "dig" in the menus, and one arrives at the desired result... transfer of VHS on DVD.
I have one complaint: you can't transfer directly to HD or PC, I couldn't find the solution in the programs.
No problem either to install under W10 or to use. All the time it is essential to have a video recorder with a PAL /SECAM decoder, because all the old K7 are in SECAM.for me: a JVC SVHS HR-6800MS
I haven't managed to get it to work yet, it seems very complicated but I persist by going to the AverMedia software site... I'm surprised it's so easy for others. I'm not a computer expert but the software always seems to need the disc to open, but then no picture when the VCR is plugged in with a tape in it on play. Or could it be the VCR? Yet on the TV it works... grrr.

Attention works with Windows 10 but the software provided is totally incompatible, you have to download another capture software. The AVERMEDIA after sales service is totally useless! No solution after having contacted them!
Product fully complies with the description; Very easy to install and use; Excellent acquisition results from VGA sources; As for the associated cyberlink pack, I have not used the DVD supplied but I have used PowerDirector and PowerProducteur elsewhere with complete satisfaction
As far as LDLC is concerned, nothing to say about the product itself, which is easy to use and install. But the software in the pack, take the cd and throw it out the window. The rendering is horrible with purple blue lines and I am not a novice in computing. I recommend Movavi video editor.
Does its job very well! Converting old VHS-C, VHS, HI8 and MiniDV tapes to AVI format without any problem (but possible to other formats). For capturing video tapes, however, be careful not to give up too quickly and to choose the right video input options or you may get bluish images for some tapes.
