This phono preamp iFi Audio ZEN Air Phono 2 is designed to connect a turntable to an audio system and improve analog signal processing. It is aimed at users of turntables equipped with MM or MC cartridges, as well as vinyl enthusiasts who want a compact, dedicated solution compatible with different types of setups. The product features RIAA playback equalization specified with a tolerance of ±0,15 dB from 20 Hz à 20 kHz. It supports Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges thanks to adjustable gain modes. Its equivalent input noise level reaches -151 dBV, with stated values of -126 dBV in MM and -146 dBV in MC with A-weighting. The circuit uses a symmetrical channel layout, designed to reduce noise, increase output level and improve channel separation. The stated maximum output voltage is 6,5 V RMS.
In use, this phono preamp makes it possible to harness the analog information from a vinyl record with conversion adapted to the RIAA curve. Its intelligent subsonic filter aims to limit the effects of record warps without attenuating low frequencies or adding group delay. The MM and MC modes make integration easier in an existing system or when changing cartridges. With dimensions of 158 x 117 x 35 mm and a weight of 323 g, it fits easily into a home hi-fi space. The required power supply is 5 V/1 A DC, with consumption below 1,8 W.
