I made this purchase to simplify my installation and reduce electricity consumption.
I have a large 15kg Pioneer cinema amplifier and Klipsch speakers, including the famous RC64Mk2 centre speaker and SPL-150 subwoofer. I initially decided to sell some of my equipment (centre speaker, surround and subwoofer) and to use the sound from the TV (Sony 65A83J) for a few months, to get my ears used to the sound from the TV again.
Then, after a bit of canvassing, I opted for the Sennheiser bar, as I was already familiar with the brand and generally liked its products.
In short, I made the purchase and received the beast....
First and last test with the film Skyfall, which has a very dynamic and detailed soundtrack.
Hooray, hooray.... I quickly became disillusioned and was really expecting something else, given the bar's native price and the various tests praising it.... A cruel lack of sound 'presence' for my taste and very, very discreet bass (I was kind of expecting that).
As for the enthusiasm for the Ambéo, here again I don't understand the fervour for this technology. Let's just say that my room, which is rectangular and doesn't lose too much sound, isn't suitable...
In short, after 30 minutes of testing, I put the beast straight back into its packaging for return to Ldlc, who as usual, were absolutely perfect!
In conclusion, if you've ever tasted the joys of home cinema with quality equipment, you'll never be satisfied with a sound bar! You can virtualise all the effects you want, but the fact remains that a crucial point in sound is 'presence' or 'envelopment', at least for me of course, and my word is not gospel.
